Breathtaking. Beautiful. Peaceful. Luxurious.
If you are after a 5 star tropical island vacation in Australia. This is it.
Location: A scenic helicopter ride from the mainland to a gorgeous island; fringed in palm trees, warm ocean waters and sand.
Accomodation: we booked the BEACH HOUSE and absolutely loved it. Steps from the beach in a 2 storey villa complete with plunge pool and outdoor cabana.
Service: Top notch. This is what makes Bedarra a stand out. Staff knew our names from the moment we landed on the island. A shout out to Geoffrey, Lance, Andy, Nick, Kitas, Olivia and Jo. Absolutely outstanding and attentive.
Housekeeping: Lets just say when they are called The Ninjas on Trip Advisor reviews. IT’S TRUE. You never see them because when you show up for your meals, the staff strategically call them to start servicing your room. So by the time you return...it’s like the fairies have visited. EVERYTHING is immaculate again.
The food: O M G....amazzzzzzing. Breakfast. Lunch. Dinner. It is truly MICHELIN STAR quality. Lunch and dinner dining can be enjoyed in one of their pavilions or on the deck. The most delicious and appetising meals paired with wines from France, New Zealand, Australia and Italy! We ordered the seafood platter one day and enjoyed it immensely.
6 o’clock pre dinner drinks: Every night before dinner. All the guests meet at the bar for cocktails. At all other times. It’s help yourself. Open bar help yourself. Name another resort in the world that offers this.....I’ll wait.
When we landed on the island we were there for 5 minutes and already loved it. Bedarra Island resort is perfect, picturesque and wonderful. You actually feel like you have the resort to yourself, you hardly see anybody else.
From a couple that have travelled the globe staying in OWB at Bora Bora and the Maldives. Bedarra Island resort is exceptional. It ticks all the boxes and we don’t need a passport to get there.
We cannot wait to return again and again. Frank and Maree
Ps: in response to Lulu....are you sure you were on the same island?! Pretty sure the resort does not tolerate rude and insulting people.
My husband surprised me with a bucket list trip to Bedarra Island Resort for my 40th birthday, arriving I was worried that I may have talked it up and it wouldn't live up to my dream... well that could not have been further from the truth!
The check in on the main land was relaxed and comfortable with a Champagne in hand.
The helicopter ride over to the island was smooth cruising visually beautiful Roger was our captain. I am little nervous flying but Roger made me feel very comfortable.
On arrival we were greeted by the GREAT Geoff who was hilarious, professional and very accommodating. He escorted us to our Villa which we believe is the best on the Island "The Point". It is of large size, own pool and extremely private.
Each day we would dine at the main restaurant for breakfast lunch and dinner. The food was exceptional, the service was exceptional. You wanted or needed for nothing! Nothing was to hard for the F&B team and there was never a no!
The location of Bedarra Island is perfection! You feel as if you are worlds away yet it is a 10 minute helicopter ride.
The amenities are great, the small boats you can take out whenever you like a so much fun and offer so much adventure.
Bedarra is a must do life experience.
I just read the last review by Lulu and thought I had better pull my finger out and write a review as we have been home for almost a month.
Management that are over it? Are you serious??
The entire staff could not have been friendlier or more welcoming. Perhaps Lulu expected starched shirts and clicking of fingers. Each to their own I guess.
Bedarra becomes a home , like visiting great friends who have a substantial pantry and a generous bar. Go with the flow or change it up, you will be accommodated.
We experienced a couple of days of extreme rainfall and watched with hilarity as the staff put the umbrellas over our plates and not themselves as we were eating outside ( undercover)in a private dining area.
Thank heavens for the tropics as they dried out between courses.
Rain did not stop our enjoyment, the rainforest comes alive , the warm waters of the beach beckoned plus the collection of nice reds and whiskies in the bar.
Better weather saw us venture out in a motorised dinghy to nearby islands , deserted beaches, stunning views, ice laden eskies filled with your specific requests for drinks.
With two main beaches , the most beautiful being the restaurant side , you get to enjoy your time in very peaceful surrounds. There is a pool but we were drawn to the beach each time to swim.
There’s a daily comedy show called Geoff v Lance , feel free to join in anytime.
The view of the beach is spectacular, you could be anywhere in the world. We spent hours just getting lost in the view.
As for the staff, well done team. The front of house presence was bang on. Efficient and courteous when busy, switching to relaxed, friendly , engaging and just down right nice people throughout our stay.
I remember reading the reviews before booking Bedarra, thinking why do people name so many staff, highly unusual.
Well I learnt why , because they are so bloody special.
Heath, Bonnie, Geoffrey, Lance, Olivia, Luke, Marcus and Jo.
Have booked again
Tony and Bec
The Mrs was emotional when leaving the staff behind- how ridiculous...
Some people believe that a second great experience will never be as good as the first. My mother would warn me as a child to never get my hopes up. I cleverly ignored Mum's warning when we were planning our second visit to Bedarra Island knowing in our hearts it would be perfect again.
When our original booking in April 2020 had to be cancelled due to COVID, we had to wait five months before we were sitting on the deck overlooking the pool with a glass of cold bubbly in hand after the warmest of welcomes. Sitting there I had to continually pinch myself that I was actually back at my "happy place". From the moment Roger lifted off from the Cairns helipad to the time he safely returned us 6 days later, my husband and I were in heaven. The team, led by the gorgeous Geoffrey, had changed a little since our last visit but we were so happy to see the familiar smiling faces of Liam and Russell on arrival. We knew we were in excellent hands. The new staff were simply brilliant too - Lance's quick wit added laughter to our days.
We love Bedarra and its people so much that we're returning for a week at Christmas and have booked another week in March 2021! We are already counting the sleeps!!
My wife and I loved this resort. The staff were very helpful in the booking process. The transfer between Cairns airport and the resort was seamless from when we were met after we got off the plane to when arrived In our room. The villa had everything we needed and more, it was very well maintained and recently renovated.
The food was excellent and the service provided by the staff was very friendly, helpful and efficient. The resort itself was in a great location with a really nice outlook and the grounds were very well maintained. A range of activities were offered or you can simply relax by the pool or on the beach. While the resort is not cheap it is all inclusive once you arrive.
All in all I thoroughly recommend this resort, although you will need to book in advance as it is very popular.
