My friend and I stayed here for our 5 days in Cairns and were very happy. The staff know the area and can provide great advice and help with getting the most out of your stay.
We had a hire car and they were very happy for us to park it on site (when a space was available) without any extra charge.
The room and the bathrooms were clean and tidy, the kitchen is new and kept clean and the little fridges in each room were fantastic. The veranda is a nice place to sit, but closes at 10pm so the hostel is quiet when you're wanting to sleep.
There were trivia and pub nights while we were there and everyone was very inviting of us.
Overall very happy with the friendly staff and good facilities.

Upon arrival we were greeted by the owner at reception who had no issue in storing our luggage as we arrived before check in, he kindly showed us around the small but homely hostel and showed us to our rooms. The room itself was exceptionally clean and offered a spacious mini fridge, a double and a single bed (we only expected two single beds so this was a nice surprise) and there was also space to hang our clothes with hangers provided. The room had a ceiling fan which worked perfectly fine and additional air con was $1 which lasted for 3 hours but it cooled down the room very quickly and seemed to keep us cool throughout the night. Whilst the location of the hostel itself isn’t in the centre of Cairns (approx 20 min walk away), we didn’t mind this so much as it meant that at night it was quiet and we could get a good nights sleep. The toilets and shower rooms were again very clean and also very spacious - not your typical cubicle but had more of a homely bathroom vibe. The kitchen was fully equipped, very clean, and offered free amenities such as tea and coffee, as well as other dried goods which other backpackers had left. I would recommend this hostel to someone who is perhaps looking for a quiet hostel - especially if you’re staying for a prolonged period of time as it did feel very homely and safe.

As hostels go this is a good one. The rooms are clean with fresh sheets and quilts, and no bad smells. I had a single room with ensuite bathroom. The room, which actually had a double and a single bed, had a fridge and a TV, and shelves to put your stuff, which I haven't seen in other hostels I've stayed in. Bathroom was spacious and clean, too. My room, had direct access to the courtyard, which was nice as I could sit outside and relax. And the free Wifi could reach my room even though my room was in the side building.
The staff was friendly and very helpful, helped me with booking tours and offered transfer to and from both airport, bus station, shopping center and more.
I didn't use the kitchen much, but it looked like it had all you need to prepare a meal. There was free tea and coffee, too. The hostel has a TV room, a billiard table, a Nintendi Wii (with extra TV), a laundry room, and clothlines in the backyard.
It was not a quiet place though. And during my stay (20 days), there was one long term guest who felt compelled to entertain everyone with his choice of music, all day and half the night. This got a little better after there had been complaints from outside, but I would have wished the management had put a stop to this completely as I wasn't the only guest who felt annoyed by him and his noise.
Even though the hostel is not directly in the CBD, there are several stores (with long opening hours) and small restaurants very close by. And anyway, the city center isn't far. And if you don't like to walk, you can borrow one of the hostels bicycles for free. I'd stay there again, this is certainly the best hostel I've stayed in in Australia so far

We stayed there for one night only after arriving in Cairns. They are on the main road. I have booked a twin room with a shared bathroom and on an arrival they upgraded us to the room with a bathroom. The room was big with its own TV and a fridge (what a great idea). The bathroom was also big, very clean and it had liquid soap in it. They also provided towels. The whole place is very quiet as for a backpacker. There was free tea and coffee in the kitchen. The kitchen was small, it had only one sink, but we used it only for hot drinks so it didn't bother us. We haven't tried the pool so cannot comment on it.
