As hostels go this is a good one. The rooms are clean with fresh sheets and quilts, and no bad smells. I had a single room with ensuite bathroom. The room, which actually had a double and a single bed, had a fridge and a TV, and shelves to put your stuff, which I haven't seen in other hostels I've stayed in. Bathroom was spacious and clean, too. My room, had direct access to the courtyard, which was nice as I could sit outside and relax. And the free Wifi could reach my room even though my room was in the side building.
The staff was friendly and very helpful, helped me with booking tours and offered transfer to and from both airport, bus station, shopping center and more.
I didn't use the kitchen much, but it looked like it had all you need to prepare a meal. There was free tea and coffee, too. The hostel has a TV room, a billiard table, a Nintendi Wii (with extra TV), a laundry room, and clothlines in the backyard.
It was not a quiet place though. And during my stay (20 days), there was one long term guest who felt compelled to entertain everyone with his choice of music, all day and half the night. This got a little better after there had been complaints from outside, but I would have wished the management had put a stop to this completely as I wasn't the only guest who felt annoyed by him and his noise.
Even though the hostel is not directly in the CBD, there are several stores (with long opening hours) and small restaurants very close by. And anyway, the city center isn't far. And if you don't like to walk, you can borrow one of the hostels bicycles for free. I'd stay there again, this is certainly the best hostel I've stayed in in Australia so far
