The site: Beautiful location, stunning on the sea-view side (at top of small cliffs). Pitches appeared to be well-marked and good-sized. Late night distant noise from a nearby site which disturbed the light sleeper in our family, and one noisy group of neighbours past 11pm on our last night which I think wasn't controlled by the night staff. Otherwise quiet. Clean toilets, except that the urinals are hidden and unlabelled with sometimes inevitable consequences around the bowl toilets! Lots of staff keeping the whole site clean and tidy.
Bengali Tents: Plastic walls on a tiled concrete base, with a wooden sliding door (bit noisy). Similar size to Eurocamp etc tents but slightly larger bedrooms and smaller living area. Ours at least was well-shaded so didn't get too hot. Also part-covered patio. 6 chairs, 2 deck-chairs. Good beds (+sofa bed we didn't use). Double hob + microwave only. Bit short on storage space. Pre-arrival cleaning could be better.
Welcome/Reception: Very friendly and helpful welcome from Ellen. Didn't deal much with others, but got the impression some are quite abrupt.
Facilities: Good shop. Two very small pools. Paddle boarding is a 30min lesson with limited space, and no rental etc opportunities on site; we had a choppy day and spent most of the time in the water! Restaurant has tasty and good value food (awesome Moules-Roquefort), but reservations are mandatory.
Beaches: Private coves on the site, the largest being a 30-40m pebble beach at the far end (mostly shady by 3-4pm), also a couple of tiny beaches with larger stones, and others that can't be accessed. Or there are larger pebble beaches a short walk away, includingthe much larger coarse sand beach at Le Racou 20-30mins walk.
Surroundings: Collioure is a picture-postcard old town, 25-40mins walk away over a bit of a hill along quiet roads. Sadly the old path along the base of the cliffs has long since tumbled away. And highly recommend the views from Tour de Madeloc / D86, also popular with cyclists who like a climb.
This site is excellent. Lovely location. Excellent pitches and plots with an excellent on site restaurant as well. Well positioned for the French coast as well as short forays into Northern Spain. Eurocamp offer excellent on site 3 bedroom caravans for hire as well as the touring pitches of which there are many.
We stayed in one of the mobile units at the top of the site. Clad in wood making it feel more rustic. Very easy to check in which was good news after a long drive. When getting to our accommodation we were delighted. The view was fantastic and one we enjoyed morning, noon and night. It was also very peaceful.
The unit itself was exactly what we needed, not the biggest bedroom but the shower room was a good size and the kitchen, lounge area big enough and well supplied. Very handy having an out door grill, which initially had no gas in the canister, but was quickly replaced by the staff.
The camp shop was fine, with lovely apple turnovers. We did not use the pool, preferring the sea. Fairly easy to walk to the beach towards Argeles. The beach directly below the site is not really one for a long day in the sun. Easy to walk to the beautiful Collioure and the many restaurants their.
The bar is good, we did not eat their but did have a takeaway pizza, which was the only disappointing part of the stay.
The staff were helpful when we needed a little advice to find a bike shop. The welcome drink was also very pleasant and every effort seemed to be made to welcome us, even with our limited French!
Overall we had a fantastic week and really enjoyed the deck we had for breakfast, sunbathing, lunch and dinner. Very relaxing and a place we would go back too.
We stayed in one of the site's premium mobile homes.
It had two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The outside decking area with barbecue is ideal for the hot summer evenings.
The private beaches were easily accessible and great for swimming.
The location is fantastic for families, beautiful beaches nearby, the ridiculously pretty town of Collioure (just about) within walking distance and amazing views of the mountains.
Staff are really friendly, lots to do on site and significantly cheaper than a mobile home on site through Eurocamp.
