Was a pleasure to meet the lovely Tamara and James. Such a warm welcome and nothing was too much trouble.
Magnificent 180 degree views of the Fassifern Valley from our room.
Beautifully appointed and clean. Architecturally appealing to allow for the views.
Great grazing platter for dinner, followed by a relax in the pool as we watched the sun setting over the mountains.
Had a beautiful nights sleep, so peaceful and quiet. Woke feeling refreshed and to the the melody of the abundant bird life.
Breakfast was prepared by James and Tamara in the amazing open plan kitchen with fresh local produce and their homemade condiments...
Did ask James to make sure we had a light show (storm) on the night, but not complaining!
Will be back, and we are locals!
Great to have this available in our own back yard, don’t need to go far for XXXXX quality.
We stayed with Rob and Marina just before Christmas 2015 and were just blown away with this property. The 180 degree views of the valley and mountains are amazing and ever changing as the day wears on. We were fortunate enough to be there for a huge thunderstorm and the sights and sounds as it rolled up the valley were spectacular. Rob and Marina were delightful hosts and we enjoyed gourmet cooking and the surroundings from the accommodation, to the pool and the amazing great room. I wrote an earlier review but not sure if it made it to this site. We are re booked for a Christmas in June celebration with friends and we are all looking forward to experiencing and re experiencing this unique property.
We stayed mid week for our anniversary but found that the place was not really "open for business". We were the only couple booked in and the owners were both catching up from a busy weekend and both left the property all afternoon. All the chairs at the outdoor seating were propped up and cushions were missing, pillowcases were missing from our bedding. I would have liked to use the pool but the cleaner was in it. I also would have liked to get my husband a massage but as no one was there that wasn't possible. Someone turned up to take photos and make enquires which was really awkward as we were the only ones there. I enquired about whether breakfast was included by email and received no reply. My husband enquired again in the morning to a confusing reply. I understand people may not be at the top of their game but this was definately not a luxury lodge experience, and we feel that we had paid enough money for a higher than average experience. The room was cold and undecorated and the whole place although it had a nice view, had no atmosphere. The mezzanine level where we slept was so hot that night and we couldn't open windows.
We were seated in a nice large room for dinner, but 2 of us in a room that would seat 120 people just felt awkward, we would have preferred dinner at our room. I was expecting more from the great reviews.
We had the most wonderful weekend here. Arrived just as a big storm was rolling in and to watch that coming over the mountains was absolutely breathtaking! The rooms are very modern, well designed and well equipped. The fridge was appreciated - some lovely goodies were provided to keep us going but also to store our snacks and wine and beer we brought with us (the resort is BYO only). Very comfortable lounge area, TV and DVD player - there was a huge dvd library, we borrowed a few dvds but didn't get round to watching any of them due to our long leisurely dinners in the Great Room. But the most notable thing about the rooms was that view! Oh my goodness. Now let's talk about the food. Outstanding. We opted to take the 3 course meal for the two nights we stayed there. Robert and Marina asked our likes and dislikes and then catered accordingly. A wonderful fillet steak the first night, and shoulder of lamb the second night. Robert has reignited my love of cooking, thanks for the inspiration! (I'm starting with that super fig, parma ham and gorgonzola starter). Marina whipped up the most delicious chocolate tart with hints of earl grey tea. I'm not going to forget the food in a hurry. Brekkie was great too. On our second day, Robert suggested a particular walk, which ended in the most scenic of swimming holes, unbelievably beautiful. When we got back to the resort, we had a well earned dip in the sparkling pool and watched some more spectacular weather rolling in. Thank you for the great food, great conversation, ambience and personal touches throughout our stay. And the goodies from your garden to bring home with us. Brilliant.
An outstandingly beautiful place to relax, unwind, recharge. My wife was particularly taken by the spectacular outlook to the scenic rim. Beautiful pool to swim in. Fireplace in the great room. Grass tennis court to play on if desired.
A great place to spend her birthday. Fantastic hosts (Rob and Marena), truly amazing meals prepared.
Highly recommended location, particularly to escape the hussle and bussle of everyday city life.
