Stayed here for 4 nights and really enjoyed the property. It is located on a street that is only open to traffic in the morning and again in the evening. As a result, depending on your time of arrival, you may have to walk with your luggage to the hotel. The wlk is short. It is a very interesting set up with a property that is very deep and has several buildings. There is an internal garden tht is very pleasant as well as a swimming pool. This would not be a great hotel for people with mobility issues. Our room was very pleasant and nicely furnished. It was quiet and had an outdoor seating area. The breakfast was good and varied. Staff were very friendly and helpful
This hotel does not have a swimming pool. I booked this hotel for my family visit to Porto because it was listed as having a swimming pool. On arrival at the hotel I asked where the swimming pool was and was told by the hotel reception that they don't have a swimming pool they have a Roman bath. This is a small bath area in a low ceiling dark damp basement . It is not a swimming pool.
It was a disappointing start to the holiday - we had a very short holiday time and wanted to make the most of it with the family, spending additional monies on this more expensive hotel so we could swim whilst in the city.
I booked via hotels.com, with a search hotel filter set for swimming pool hotel in Porto. (I have informed hotel.com of this incorrect listing but hotels.com inform me that the hotels make their own listings and they cannot do anything to amend the listing on hotel.com).
The hotel's response was that as a customer I had use of the wellness spa - that is correct, there is some gym equipment, a sauna and steam room and the Roman bath but no swimming pool as advertised.
It is very disappointing that hotels.com are advertising and selling properties without checking the listings and facilities offered are correct and that even when key incorrect information is given to them that they don't do anything about it.
I have requested a refund from the hotel which I think is reasonable, they have refused the refund and have not made any indication that the hotel listing will be amended.
Other than the above the hotel is very pleasant.
This is an odd hotel. We had reserved 2 King bed studios with kitchenettes with terraces on Booking.com. What we got were good sized rooms with a small kitchen and a small table with 2 chairs outside in a shared, rather ugly courtyard. We had to walk up and through 2 other buildings to get to our room. It was a long trip to get out the front door. The street in front of the hotel is closed to traffic. It was quite an ordeal to get our luggage from the garage a couple block away to our room. There is a back door on another street, but try as we might, we couldn't get it to work. The mattresses were beyond firm. The heater did not get warm enough to warm the apartment or even the bedroom. I can see by the photos that they are some lovely rooms in the hotel. We didn't have one of those. However, the hotel is well located, breakfast was in a beautiful room and was sufficient. They always had fresh fruit. They also have a spa with an unusual pool. It is done in black/purple light making it difficult to see all the sharp jutting edges. The steam room and sauna were nice, but only worked one day. We became quite fond of a close by restaurant that the hotel recommended: LSD. I would probably not stay here again.
We stayed for 4 nights Mon - Fri in September. The hotel is spread over 3 buildings and we had a studio in the top building. The middle building seems to be duplex apartments and the reception building normal hotel rooms. Our apartment was very big with a fully equipped kitchen ( which we didn't use). The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast room is in the middle of the complex and had a buffet breakfast with everything you would expect these days. Also on this level was a 24 hour coffee/tea station and a lovely garden with fountain and sun beds. The hotel is in the middle of the UNESCO heritage part of Porto and it was an up hill walk to the bell tower, cathedral, shopping district etc and a down hill walk to the river and across the bridge to the port houses. Would definitely recommend for couples or families. Note the pool is not a swimming pool but a roman bath - I used it a couple of times to ease my acheing joints in the warm water after all the hill walking.
Very nice hotel. Super location in the center of Porto. Very high quality of the room, high tech, very clean, and fresh. Lovely garden and outside area with a view. Nice jacuzi style pool in the basement. Very helpful and nice staff. The place is actually romantic almost like a villa in a city center. Stayed in many luxury places around the world, but this 4 star is extremely charming. Only disappointment was that we booked on hotel. com and received confirmation that the room should have an extra bed sofa, important for us since our son is 17 yrs old and can't sleep in a small extra bed. There was no extra bed in the room? Of course not acceptable, but the hotel did change next day (arrived very late)to a bigger extra bed that was ok, so we are pleased with the solution, even though surprised how such a mistake can occur, can you not trust written confirmations? This will be brought up further with hotel.com
