The good: The property is very picturesque, situated on a hill, surrounded by vines and cork oak trees. The old buildings are very nicely arranged. Everything surrounding them is green. The pool is very clean. Breakfast - everything made by themselves! Natural and tasty. Do not miss the yogurt (and everything they serve at breakfast)! Vinicio, the owner, was extremely helpful.
Quite close to Olbia (15 minutes) and the wonderful beaches.
The bad: Access to the property is miserable - dusty unpaved road, Directions to there are available only on Google maps - other navis make your trip a nightmare (especially when arriving by night); so don't forget to ask Vinicio before starting the trip. Unfortunately, beginning with the 3rd of September, they have closed the restaurant for dinner and lunch.
We have stayed in this beautiful place for a week in July. On our arrival we received very warm welcome from Vinicio.
The place is so beautiful, very peaceful full of countryside charm. Here you can get a real taste of Italian life, away from big cities, traffic pollution and tourists, at the same time you are very close to everything you might need - Olbia 15min, beach 15-20min away. To get to the property the best is to put coordinates to your SAT-NAV (40.841315; 9.379368) and that will take you straight there.
If you wish you can book for an evening meal (20:30 every evening). The food is home made, very traditional and extremely tasty for the fraction of the price you would normally pay in Olbia.
Facilities are also great, air conditioning in every room, free wi-fi, lovely swimming pool with comfortable sun lounges.
Vinicio and his team are very friendly, you can see a big smile every day, they made our stay very special. We are already looking forward to returning to this amazing place.
We stayed 3 nights and we really love this place. Vinicio the owner is a super nice guy and makes everything you eat and drink on his own. Don’t miss the dinner, it’s so far the best food we had on our trip and some of the best meals we’ve ever eaten actually (and yes we’ve tried quite alot fancy/nice restaurants in many countries/cities). One other big plus is the pool and barbieque-area. His homemade rosé wine is also something you shouldn’t miss.
I'm not sure if the previous reviewer was staying at the same place as us! Certainly their description of the place seems completely at odds with our experience...
We had a great time at Agriturismo Desole. The room was large and clean, the bed comfy enough, a good bathroom with a decent shower. It looks like everywhere has had a recent lick of paint.
The site is in a great location, easy to reach as it is not far from the motorway (which you don't hear) with views over to the distant hills covered in Cork trees and pine.
The pool is perfect, large enough to swim in at about 8m long, with good loungers, seating and a couple of sun shades around. No set pool times, just go in when you want! It all looks very clean and new.
Breakfast is fine, plenty of choice with cereal, fruit, yoghurt, cake, bread/toast, pastries, juice... and the coffee is perfectly good! They will make espresso if you prefer that over filter coffee.
I understand they can provide evening meals during the high season, July and August, but as our stay was in September I can't comment on that. We ate at various different places; there is a very good restaurant, Trattoria Locanda Stella, at the top of town in Monti, a ten minute drive away. Simple, delicious food and good value. Olbia is a fifteen minute drive away, plenty of choices there.
The Costa Smeralda is half an hour away by car, other good beaches are closer. The interior is worth a visit, even if just to drive through and marvel at the cork forests.
The two sisters and father (I think I've got that right) who run the place are friendly, helpful and informative, getting in touch before we arrived to make sure we would be met, and serving us breakfast with a smile every morning. If none of them are around during the day and you need something, you can phone the number they leave on show, using the phone in the dining room.
This was a bit of a 'the price is right' choice for us at the last minute, the lack of reviews here seemed odd (as there are plenty of good reviews on other sites), but I'm happy to say the Agriturismo Desole has surpassed our expectations.
