Really good location in the airside of Schiphol and reasonable price. Breakfast was just takeaway coffee, a sandwich, yogurt and similar (which I didn't have, see below). More signs and guiding would be preferred, wasn't easy to find. Room itself is REALLY compact as mentioned in web, like 5 sqm in total. Toilet, shower, foldable table, bunk bed, TV. Nice selection of power sockets and USB charging port. Really strong odor of some cleaning solvent was present in the whole area and in the cabin. For couple of hours plain sleeping place it's quite OK. BUT, in my case it was really disaster:

There was heavy maintenance works going 1 floor up and I couldn't sleep at all and I left after 15mins. Because it was already over midnight when I checked in, I wasn't offered any refund or cancelling of my stay. They've sent me an email message about it a day before, but I was out of mobile data in Africa. Actually it was really in that moment. They blamed me about booking it trough hotels.com and that's why they didn't had my contact information. If you offer services via 3rd party site, you should make sure you get all required data from customers. Still waiting a response from their customer service.

Yotel warned me a couple days before my stay that there would be construction in the airport the night of my stay and offered to let me cancel. Several years ago I had booked the same Yotel at Schiphol and they also had construction going on. That time they rebooked me at no additional charge at another hotel within the airport. They said they couldn't do that this time, and I had already made my plans and figured the noise wouldn't be so bad that I couldn't sleep so I kept the reservation.
When I checked in, I asked if they would upgrade me to a premium room because of the construction; they said all those rooms were booked, tho I could see that most were empty that night and in the morning (the door to each room has a big window). They just offered me earplugs. The noise was like a jackhammer above my head all night, from 10pm to 4am.
Also, their instructions say you can bring only carry-on luggage, but they didn't mention that the airlines won't let you check your bag the night before for a morning flight. Instead you have to take it to a luggage holding area in the bottom of the airport, pay 9 euros to store it and go back and forth through security the next morning to retrieve it, which took 45 minutes.

In 2014, I gave the YotelAir a 5* rating due to the convenience, comfort, and outstanding customer service. I stayed there again this week, and it was a horrible experience. After arriving late in the evening, I stayed there again to make it easy for the early morning connection. Once the crowds leave the airport, the mice take over, and several mice were present adjacent to the entrance of the hotel. The check-in process was ideal, but the experience deteriorated once I arrived in my room (cabin 12). The air-conditioning was broken, and the room was a sauna. Since there are no windows, there was no ventilation, and room was stagnant and extremely uncomfortable. The employee tried twice to fix the air-conditioning without success, but he could not move us since there were no other rooms. In addition to the truly extreme heat, the lights are much dimmer than in the past. The control panel also did not work. This was good since the darkness hid the dirt and massive dust. My business colleague was in cabin 11, and both rooms had cleanliness issues.

Simply put, this is no longer a place I would recommend. The Citizen M is very close with much better service, cleaner rooms, and a better maintained hotel.

Had a very well needed 5 hours of sleep for my 11-12 hour layover in Amsterdam. So glad I rented the Yotel room. Bedding was very comfortable. The single room you’ll need to climb to get into a bunker style bed so if you have problems with that you should rent the larger room that has bed in ground level.
Nice to get freshened up for my next keg if the trip. Will definitely consider again if I have another long layover.

Questions & answers about the rooms

Hi Sanjay. Thanks for your message. Yes, you may access our air-side location and stay in the transit area where the hotel is situated. The minimum booking is for 4 hours, however, you may check-out earlier if needed. We also have Shower Cabins based on first come first serve.

Yes....you do need a boarding card to enter the are where Yotel is placed. Even you do not need to fully leave the terminal, you need to show boarding card to go from hall to hall and finally enter the hotel. I am not sure if the "used" boarding card was valid from going from terminal to terminal without exiting the airport. If I were you, I would ask the Yotel directly.

I'm afraid I can't help you out. When we stayed, the shower was in our room. However, I've stayed at Citizen M, right next to the airport, and loved it. May not suit your needs but I much preferred it to Yotel. Safe journey.

I recommend you to book in advance through their website. You can set up arrival and departure time and get the exact quotation. By the way, personal recommendation, they have 2 sizes of bedrooms. If you are travelling with someone and will share one room, go for the larger room option. Is highly functional but very small. For 4 hours is more than great. About showing up and checking in, some people seems to be lucky. In my case, when I arrived I saw 3 group of people (1 alone, 1 couple and another larger group) and all got the "sorry we are full" reply and had to stay wondering around the airport.
