Restaurant food was good for dinner, but no western choice for breakfast so had to eat somewhere else.

I am a japanese tourist and went around Hokkaido with a rent car and we stayed this hotel for one night with my wife and three naughty kids (7,4, 2 year old). My room was tatami room in annex. I am not sure if I should call this hotel or ryokan or B&B, may be Minsyuku style lodge. Anyway, it is old but tidy and great accommodation.

In summer season, accommodations in Furano is very costy, especially it is true for a family of 5 person, like us. I wanted to stay in the Hoshino resort in Tomamu but I chose this hotel because the hotel offered a big room, which is good for 4 adults and I can drive to Hoshino resort to see Unkai terrace (30-40 min from the hotel).

One of our highlights was dinner. My package included a signature dish, Nampu Curry, which was vegetable and wagyu beef on top of curry and rice. The servers in the restaurant are from Taiwan and Hongkong (maybe working holidays) and also I found several guests from Chinese language countries. Owner is very handsome and helpful to all guests. There was a small sauna, which I and my son enjoyed.

My room was in annex (looks like the hotel is very popular and expanding the business) and renovated one house to accommodation, only two rooms there. when I booked a hotel through internet, annex was most reasonable. My room was spacious and clean with futon style bed and the owner told me that foreign guests especially enjoyed the room because the room is an old Japanese style room and renovated. There are shared toilet and bath in annex so my wife and small kids take bath inside this annex. I was sorry for my neighborhood staying next to my room because my kids were so noisy. Sorry for that.

The price (appx 30000JPY) is a bit expensive I feel considering the not new and highend facility but it is still affordable considering we are a family of 5 people and we stayed during the best season in Hokkaido. you can stay half of the price half in the rest of the seasons.

Next to the hotel (30 second, not 30 min), you can find Ikutora JR station, which is a place where a very famous movies (Popppo ya) was taken. I saw this movie 15 years back and cried so much and cried again when I found this station next to the hotel. There are two convenience stores by 10 min walk (opens 24/7) so we got some breakfast as my stay doesn’t include breakfast. From the hotel, there is a petrol station, which is super reasonable (ENEOS).

Overall, the hotel offers good food and good atmosphere.

We had the family room for 4 people (2 single beds and 2 tatami beds). There is not much space for luggage in the main room area but at the door entrance area there is enough space to put our 2 big luggage. Room was clean and air-cond working well. We had our dinner at their restaurant downstair and my son enjoyed the curry rice so much that he claimed was the best he had eaten so far.
