For breakfast be sure to stop at Mr. Pancake — especially if you absolutely love pancakes! The big serving sizes, huge variety of pancakes, and friendly staff here will warm your heart and your tummy all at once. Very popular, so there may be a wait, but it's well worth it.
There's no better way to begin the day in the Wisconsin Dells area than with an early morning hike through the stunning Devil's Lake State Park. Open year-round from 6am, come renew your relationship with nature, and literally walk through history on parts of its 1,000-mile Ice Age trail. One of the biggest and most visited parks in the upper Midwest, it features 500 feet of quartzite bluffs, a gorgeous 360-acre lake, and an array of trails to explore, from distances of 0.3 to 13.7 miles.
If you're looking to get a little shopping in during your stay in the Dells, check out the Outlets at The Dells for all of your favorite brands at great outlet prices. With over 60 stores in all, bargain hunt for yourself and the family in this beautiful and clean indoor/outdoor mall.
One of the most popular activities in Wisconsin Dells, and rightly so, is the one-of-a-kind Bigfoot Zipline. Zoom through nature above gorgeous oaks and Northwood pines on seven separate zip lines covering over 6,000 feet.
Wisconsin Deer Park is no ordinary petting zoo, but a whopping 40-acre family-friendly facility that also features a variety of elk, bison, goats, and more, in addition to all the adorable deer. A lovely visit for kids and adults alike, cameras are not only allowed but encouraged.
Just as if the Pied Piper was calling you, the smell of the burgers cooking at Monk's Bar & Grill will beckon to you, even while still in your car and driving around the Dells. If you're looking for a fun place for lunch that just screams Wisconsin Dells, Monk's, located right on Broadway in Downtown Wisconsin Dells, is the place. Come and enjoy one of the best burgers you will ever have!
One of the key items worth sampling while in the Wisconsin Dells is the local fudge. Made the old-fashioned, European way, using copper kettles and open gas-fired cast iron stoves, Swiss Maid Fudge has been around since 1962, and remains one of the most popular places to buy and sample fudge in the area. Prepare to be wowed - not only is the taste incredible, but there are more types and flavors of fudge here than I knew existed!
After indulging in some sweets, it's time to sample some wine! The Wollersheim Winery in near-by Sauk City, offers winery tours, wine tastings, and a well-stocked wine store. Taking time at a winery is the perfect way to get away from the crowds in the busier parts of the Wisconsin Dells.
After the burgers, wine, and fudge, it's time to get back out into nature and enjoy some activities before the day is over. At the Christmas Mountain resort, you can take your pick from an array of activities like golf, fishing, paddle boats, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, tennis, and much more. There is also a variety of lodging options available at Christmas Mountain, spanning from a campground to cabins and villas for a peaceful and wonderful stay away from the hectic downtown area.
