Chris O's City Tips

  • Cabs are plentiful in popular areas.
  • Most of the main attractions in Miami Beach are within walking distance of each other.
  • The Metromover and Miami Trolley are free transportation options around some of the most popular parts of town.
  • DO - Expect many more people to speak fluent Spanish than in most parts of America. DON'T - assume they're foreigners just because they do!
  • Miami is much safer than how it's depicted on TV.

Set on the beautiful Bay of Biscayne, Vizcaya was the summer home of businessman James Deering during the early 20th century. Today the estate is open to the public as the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, and it's a must-see - whether you're coming to experience the grandeur of the building and its lush grounds or simply to enjoy what many reckon is one of the best art and history museums in the United States.

    Good for
    • Peace and Quiet Seeker
    • Must See
    • History Buff
    • Art and Architecture Lover
    Tips
    • Vast Vizcaya has a lot of stairs, and the floors and terrain throughout its Main House, gardens and grounds is often uneven. Walk carefully!
    • Vizcaya is open every day except Tuesdays, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.
