Points of Interest

1. Stepan Shahumyan Statue

Stepanakert is named after him. You start the days hike here, or can catch it further down if you are staying in the northern parts of the city.

2. Ministry of Foreign Affairs

This traditional stone building is where you get your visa/register your arrival. The modern buildings are across from the MFA.

3. Freedom Square

Take a left at this traffic circle, which seems to have become the silk flower hub of the city.

4. Lernavan Village

The trail passes by Lernavan Village here.

5. Aygestan Village

The trail hits Aygestan Village here. You can either follow these tracks through the village, or take a shortcut around the village on your left.

6. Dahrav Village

Here you pass through Dahrav Village. Above the village is a centuries old stele with a khachkar embedded in it. Photo courtesy of Mazzoniguide.com

7. Large field

This large field grows full of wildflowers and grass each spring, before being mowed and gathered for animal feed in the winter. The variety of flowers in June is stunning, and the scenery around you is great.

8. Footbridge

Definitely the preferred way of crossing the river.

9. Patara church

Simple small stone village church of Patara. Location is approximate.
