I began most of my traveling 4 years ago. My first love mode of travel is cruising. I prefer small ships and definitely don't want to sail on ships that accommodate more than 1200 passengers. I enjoy meeting people on my travel and hearing of their adventures. I don't like to travel with large groups and normally travel with two other people or solo. I really enjoy reading comments from Trip Advisor members and I always check the site when I am planning travel. The comments you read on this site are a real help when trying to decide which hotel to stay at, which restaurant to eat at, which attractions to be sure to visit. I so appreciate all of the good advice I have followed from this site and I likewise try to make my reviews fair and unbiased. That's what I so enjoy about Trip Advisors. Reviewers are giving you their true personal views and feelings. No one is paying them a fee for their words. I thank Trip Advisor for having such a wonderful site that we travelers can visit.

Giovanni's Shrimp Truck is just a tradition and a must do to make every trip to Oahu complete. The Garlic Shrimp are delicious and the day's excursion driving up through Haliewa and snorkeling at Turtle Bay is just one of my favorite days on the island. I always visit the local vendor's shops which are close to the truck. I have met some nice and interesting people while eating here.
This super market has a great service deli that gives a chance to eat like a local. Whenever I've gone here I'm not sure what half of the food items are, but I watch what the locals are ordering and I do the same. I enjoy tasting different foods and this is a chance to do just that. The wait staff are very friendly and helpful as are most of the customers waiting in line. The food is placed in containers and then I find a nice table on a local beach and enjoy my lunch watching the waves. This is a no frills meal, but it is always delicious and fun.
As soon as I am off the plane and in my rental car, I head to Uncle's Fish Market & Grill for lunch. The food here is "out of sight". I have not had a bad selection from the menu either for lunch or dinner. Everyone I take here loves the food. It is a wonderful start to vacationing on the island.
If you want to snorkel and see fish, then Hanauma Bay is the place to go. I have seen more beautiful fish and turtles in Hanauma Bay than I have on any of the four snorkeling trips I have participated in in the Caribbean. Yes, there is an admission fee, but it is well worth the admission fee to have such a lovely, clean beach, showers and restroons. Not to mention the added safety of lifeguards.
The small parking lot is always full and there is a line inside but the wait is well worth it. Have only visited Leonard's once, but I can assure you that I will visit on every future trip. The bakery items here are unbelievable. I can't wait to try everything.
Buho's was recommended to me by one of the staff at the condo I was staying last October. He indicated it was a new restaurant that he thought had a great deal of potential. Well, I along with my Nephew and his wife tried it during our stay and it was very impressive. It was not busy when we visited which made it quite nice for us to enjoy talking with our waiter and spending time to look at the menu and seek his recommendations. The food presentation was beautiful and the servings were very generous. The taste of the food was outstanding. I have only visited this one time, but you can be sure when I return this year in September Buho's will definitely be on my list of places to eat. I will not be one bit surprised if it has become a very popular place to eat. It is not cheap but the price is fair. The atmosphere is casual.
I had often viewed the Hula Grill Waikiki balcony from the beach and thought what a nice view it must have for dining. I have eaten dinner here twice now and have enjoyed the food both times. The menu provides many selections and the food is prepared beautifully and it tastes delicious also. Naturally, a table by the rail is the coveted place to be, but really any table in the restaurant has a beautiful view. The wait staff were very friendly and helpful both times I ate here and they seemed to enjoy their work. I did really did not notice any employees who did not have a smile on their face. It was a pleasure to eat here.
This was a great morning hike. The views from various locations on the way up the trail are wonderful and the views from the top are spectacular. Don't think that this is a "walk in the park." It is a serious trek up the trail and the trail is not a level, paved walkway. It is a maintained trail but there are several areas where footing is uneven and there are many stairs to climb if you want to make it to the top. There are also many areas where you can stop to rest, but recognize your limits and don't try to make it to the top if you unsure. If you are used to walking and exercising it will be a piece of cake -- if not -- do what you can and call it quits when the going gets to tuff.
What a beautiful garden. I have visited Hoomaluhia three times now and each time has been a rewarding trip to get somewhat of a feeling for how incredibly beautiful the islands were many years ago before all the buildings and cars. I will never grow tired or cease to be amazed by the majestic mountains that provide the backdrop for this area. Don't hurry through the gardens. If you can't visit every section, take the time to really explore through a couple of areas and come back another time to spend in different sections. Enjoy the tranquility. Enjoy the birds and other creatures of the garden. Enjoy the spirit of Hawaii.
Waikiki Beach is just a fun place to visit. Sure, it is crowded, but there is plenty of room on the beach and the swimming is fun and relaxing. People watching is one of my favorite things to do at Waikiki. And don't be surprised if you have a turtle join you during your swim.
Chinatown, as I feel in most cities, is a fun location to explore at least once. There are some wonderful "lei stores" where you can purchase beautiful leis for much less than you can in Waikiki. The food available from the many stands and restaurants is always fun and interesting to explore and the bakeries are fantastic. If you aren't interested in goods from China, then Chinatown is not for you. Some areas are not the ideal of cleanliness.
Waimea Bay Beach Park is one of my favorite stops driving up the North Shore of Oahu. I have not visited the Bay during the winter months so it has always been very calm wave activity. I have enjoyed watching the youngsters jumping from the rocks into the ocean and also have had some wonderful conversations with fishermen along the shore. This is a very clean and picturesque bay and I love the "shoe tree".
The Pipeline is a "must stop" on the drive up the north shore. It is always fun to watch the surfers and enjoy the beauty of the ocean. I have never gone swimming at the pipeline but it is a spectacular beach for surfing.
Aloha Stadium Swap Meet is a great place to spend some time on a Sunday afternoon. he variety of vendors is incredible and the variety of merchandise is unbelievable. I used to really enjoy shopping in the International Market Place in Waikiki, but now that one of the swanky stores has replaced that, the Aloha Stadium is my favorite place to shop for those inexpensive souvenirs and gifts. I have found many of the vendors from the IMP are now selling at the Stadium.
Always a beautiful location to stop and hopefully see the blowhole spouting it's stuff. This is a truly breathtaking section of Oahu's eastern shore. Parking is available and if you are adventurous you can even climb down to Halona Beach and stand on the shore where the famous "beach scene) from From Here to Eternity was filmed.
Another beautiful stop on a drive up the North Shore. Good snorkeling when conditions are right. Also lots of shallow tidal areas to explore.
