This is a great place to visit on your own or with a family. Set over a vast amount of space opposite the absolutely beautiful Royal Exhibition Buildings, it caters to all ages and all interests. I have so many favourite spaces in this museum (perhaps I am a bit biased as I used to volunteer there many years ago and loved it!!) but I am sure that you will definitely not be disappointed. If you are an architecture love, you will love the contrast between the ultra modern Museum, and old Royal Exhibition Buildings. Enquire on doing a tour of the Buildings while you're at the Museum.

You cannot visit Melbourne & not visit St Kilda Beach. It would be like going to Sydney and not seeing Bondi Beach. This is definitely the place to head in summer for drinks by the beach. Although for me it's not the ideal beach for swimming (I prefer heading down the Mornington Peninsula), it is a great place to take a seat and watch the world go by. For those that prefer to get active, there is plenty of room to rollerblade, skate or ride a bike down here with the shared lanes. Take a walk down the pier - great photo ops of St Kilda and the city from there.
