De Bijenkorf is the most high-end shopping mall in Amsterdam — similar to Harrods in London and the KaDeWe in Berlin. Here, you're sure to find any luxury brand you could want...for a price!

A tip for luxury shopping fans: P.C. Hooftstraat is probably the most nifty shopping street in the Netherlands. Here you'll find all the big names, from Chanel to Gucci, in a neat little row. It's shopping for the rich and famous at its best — and it's great people-watching for everyone else!

While a little pricey, the large Magna Plaza shopping mall is fun to visit for its beautiful monument building. Located in the old post office just behind the Dam Square, it features several modern and hip stores that are worth checking out while you're in the area.

While aesthetically somewhat unremarkable, Kalverstraat and Leidsestraat are Amsterdam's most popular streets for shopping. All the usual suspects are here, including H&M, Zara, and Esprit, and there are several decent gift shops sprinkled in.

The Waterlooplein Market is Amsterdam’s most well-known flea market. The huge amount of (often random!) products on offer may include everything from spare bike parts to clothes to groceries. And while you might end up leaving empty-handed, you won't regret having seen the colorful booths. That there is usually live music is just icing on the cake.

Situated in a historic square in Chinatown — next to the Red Light District and a short walk from the main train station — the Nieuwmarkt (New Market) is a daily market surrounded by bars, cafes, and restaurants. It's the perfect place to stroll or sit with a coffee and watch the people.
