Museumkaart Tour and Daytrip to Haarlem

94%
Found this guide helpful

There are an extraordinary number of museums in Amsterdam. The first 2 days of this itinerary makes good use of your Museumkaart to cover 8 of these attractions, while passing by some of the other famous sights of Amsterdam in a logistically efficient way. It ends with a more relax-paced 3rd day with a day trip to Haarlem.

Victor_35_Countries's City Tips

  • All sights in the first 2 days can be visited on foot. So I would not recommend buying any transit pass for these 2 days.
  • Also look into the Holland Pass and the I Amsterdam card to see which one suits you the best depending on what attractions you plan to visit, if your trip extends beyond 3 days or beyond Amsterdam.

There are many eateries around the square, but for lunch, we'll head for the local and affordable La Place which offers a great view over the city. For now, soak in the beautiful architecture, including the Sint-Bavokerk, the Stadhuis and the Vlesshal. If you see a pickled herring stand in the square, go ahead and give it a try. If you are following this guide strictly and have no plan to visit any other windmill, then make a detour on your way back to the train station and visit the Molen De Adriaan, one of the more accessible windmills in Haarlem or Amsterdam.

After arriving back at the Amsterdam Centraal, walk for 15 minutes to the west to dine at this highly-rated restaurant. Their apple pie seems to be the highlight for many diners. See if you agree.
