17 Sep 2011  wanting to see the different sights and smell the different smells!

A travel to 3 countries over the span of 17 days. This is the trip that I will be taking Dec, 2011. I've really wanted to visit Siam Reap and Ho Chi Minh, so I've decided to do it all at once, and have thrown in a relaxing 7-day stay at Lombok to enjoy the beaches.

  • 1. Staying at River Village Manor

Dec 1 - 5, 2011: We opted for one of their Package deals, the 4-Night value Package. It fits perfectly into our schedule as we are only staying 4 nights in Siam Reap.

  • 2. Tour package with River Village Manor

They have a very detailed itinerary on their website. Sorry can't post the link here for some reason.

  • 3. Ho Chi Minh City
    Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Dec 5-10: We'll be staying in Ho Chi Minh for 5 nights.

  • 4. Beautiful Saigon Hotel
Beautiful Saigon Hotel, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Read great reviews about this little hotel in District 1 of Ho Chi Minh, have booked a few nights stay there.

  • 5. Touring with Vietnam Biking Tours

Hoping to go on a 3day/2 night trip Saigon-Vinh Long-Cantho trip with these guys!

  • 6. Touring Cu Chi Tunnel (Saigon River and/or Cao Dai Temple)

Either with TNK Travel or Vietnam Bike Tours. There have been some negative reviews about TNK travel, and I know that this is the kind of tour where you bord a bus with at least 10 other people, but might be a welcome break from the bike tour. Will let you know!

Vietname Bike tours has 2 touring packages: 1. Taking a boat ride through Saigon River to the Cu Chi Tunnels 2. Bike Tour to The Cao Dai Temple and Cu Chi Tunnels. A very tough decision! I'd love to be on Saigon River, but I want to see the temple too!

  • 7. Vietnam Vespa Adventures Day Tours
Vespa Adventures, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Again, great reviews about the tour and company. Will most likely opt for this rather than do a walking city-day tour.

  • 8. Lombok, Indonesia
    Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara

Dec 11-17: First will be Kuta (south of the Island), then the Gili Islands (north West of the Island). We will be staying in Gili Trawangan.

  • 9. Yuli's Homestay
    Yuli's Homestay, Kuta, Lombok

Dec11-13: Will be learning how to surf on their lovely beaches. I've read that there are many surf points on the southern part of the island, different beaches for different levels. There is also a surfing school: Kimen Suring (http://www. kuta-lombok.net/) -- please take away the space when copying the link -- . I emailed them several days ago, but have yet to get a response. They have a few learn-to-surf packages and packages where they take you out on their boat to the different beaches.

  • 10. Vila Almarik Lombok
Villa Almarik Resort Lombok, Gili Trawangan, Gili Islands

Dec 14 - 17: Will be diving with Gangga Divers. The resort has a diving school attached to it (or located right next door?) and hopefully we'll be able to go with a Master Diver for a dive or two. We are not certified divers.
I've chosen this Villa, and actually narrowed my search for villas/hotels that are only located on the northerm part of the island (Good Heart and North Beach) because I've read that the beaches at the north offer wonderful snorkeling opportunities. There are turtles and a lot of coral. However, the down side is that there is so much coral, that it might not be conducive for swimming, especially at low tide.
