Sanur is served by Bali Ngurah Rai Airport (Denpasar, Indonesia)

Arriving in Sanur

Cheap flights to Sanur (Denpasar International Airport) are available from Adelaide International Airport and typically transfer through Singapore on Singapore Airlines or carrier Virgin Australia. Air Asia offers cheap flights connecting in Kuala Lumpur from Sydney, Melbourne and the Gold Coast. Cheap flights exiting Perth are available on both Jetstar and Air Asia. A direct flight time from Perth to Denpasar is slightly less than 4 hours. Flights departing from the east coast (Cairns, Brisbane, Sydney and Canberra) will typically include a domestic flight to Perth or Darwin. A 30-day Visa can be organised onboard your flight or upon arrival – a small fee is involved. Denpasar International Airport is approximately 15km from Sanur. Exit the arrival lounge and an official Ngurah Rai Airport Taxi attendant will issue a ticket for a fixed price taxi fare – avoid accepting unsolicited approaches for taxis at the airport. Several car rental companies operate desks from within the terminal, or book ahead for a shuttle bus or private car service your accommodation may operate.

Getting Around Sanur

Transport across Bali is characteristically simple, cheap and accordingly chaotic. Much of Sanur is best explored by hiring a bicycle or adventuring on foot. Bemos and minivans are comfortable enough for short rides - negotiate a fair, upfront cost prior to boarding. Book onto organised tours or hire a private car with a driver for day trips and longer journeys – this will take the guess work out of your day!

The serene beach at Sanur is sheltered by an outer lying reef which makes it the perfect setting for lazing in the sun or learning water sports such as kite-surfing, windsurfing and sea kayaking. Embrace an unforgettable experience swimming with dolphins with a Bali Dolphin Tours package. Marvel at spectacular volcano, Mount Agung and white water raft down the Telaga Waja River. Visit the Uluwatu Temple, Tanah Lot, Besakih Temple and Goa Gajah (Elephant Cove). Enjoy the waterslides of the Waterbom Water Park, the manicured greens of the Bali Orchid Garden or for a cheap afternoon cycle along the 6km boardwalk that lines Sanur Beach. Tour the Bali Safari & Marine Park, the small La Mayeur Museum or learn the language of local cuisine at Bamboo Shoots Cooking School. Snorkel on the reef, parasail overhead or keep your hair dry and walk on the sea floor with an oxygen-supplied helmet at Club Aqua’s Seawater.

Shopping, Dining & Nightlife

Check out the retail offerings of Kuta Square and Seminyak Square or keep it local at the Sanur Beach Market and Shindu Beach Market. Dine on the decadent Italian cuisine at Stiff Chilli or the home-style menu of Benno’s Restaurant. Enjoy fresh, seasonal seafood at Mama Putu’s or the cheap selection at Cafe Jepun. Relax at the Borneo Pub or party in Kuta’s popular Engine Room or Bounty nightclubs. Sanur’s superb cocktail offerings include the very alluring ‘Urban Despa’ at Cinnamon – start here and make your way through the cocktail list (over the duration of your entire stay of course!). Nurse your drinks in style at The Wine and Cigar Bar and continue to sip cocktails at Lava Lounge.
