Hi My daughter and I are going in December, I was just wondering if you saw any aurora at that time of year?
We went there in March for a week but we were unfortunate. We didn't see any aurora, but the week before that, it was almost every day. I guess you have to be lucky, but they say that you have more chance to enjoy this spectacle in December than in March.
Anyways, there's plenty left to be in love with! White wonderland, huskies, ...
I saw the lights at the beginning of February, absolutely stunning. We were only there for 3 nights and saw them on the second. Other guests had been there for 8 days and said it was their first sighting of the trip. There are so many great things to do there and the scenery is just wonderful, so you'll still have a wonderful trip and if you get the lights as well it will be the icing on the cake!
We went in March this year and it snowed for 4 of our 7 days with the others cloudy.
This was our 3rd trip to Finland and we have only seen the lights on one night out if a total of 18.
Don't think time of year (November to April) matters, but you need to get lucky with clear skies.
However, the holiday is fantastic even if you don't see the northern lights. Would still recommend.
