Wannian Temple Questions & Answers

Hello, we are planning to go to mount Emei in September and We can't seem to find any concrete information about night stays in the Monasteries up there. Hopefully, those who have been there could helps us out. Namely, can we book a night in advance? If not, what time do we need to be there in order to guarantee a place in one of the many monasteries? Also, how many days and nights do you recommend to spend visiting the mount? We would not like to pay a tour since we're trying to hold on to our modest budget.

Thank you in advance for all the info you can give us,

Cheers,

Bruno and Silvia.

Oh, also, food is more expensive there unless you stay outside of the mount emei. 3 simple dishes for abt 180 yen including scramble eggs, 1 chicken dish and 1 vegetable dish.

Yike, going there without speaking the language is a BIG problem. The signs and information available in English and Chinese almost non existence. We speak the language and read Chinese still get lost some. We had to ask to get there. We did not stay there but we did see that you can stay there in the temple. In some point within the walking distance to the temple there is a hostel type of place for backpacker. However, we did not stay there so I don't have the information for you. personally, I would not go there without a guide as a foreigner. I do not know about others who had been there. We did not see a single none Asian there when we were there for the entire 3 days stayed. Our friend was the only white. Even none of the person in hotel speak English or read English. Hope it helps.
