I'm coming up next Wednesday(8/3/17) with a group. Can you suggest a best spot in the basket? I'm a keen photographer and would like to get some good shots. I was thinking a corner would be best as you'd get more viewing angle but I'm also interested on your thoughts on which side of the basket would be best.
Hi Gus, I would suggest a corner position, however you can swap places within your compartment if you like. All of the other answers are very helpful, it appears passengers were paying attention... :-) We will have 4 big balloons flying on Wednesday so there will be plenty of perspectives and angles to take advantage of. See you then.
Hi Gus, You'll be looked after as soon as you mention to them you want to get the best shots! They are AWESOME...You can ask any of the crew.../they are so helpful.. best position can be the corner...but it's all about weight distribution... It's an amazing experience...You'll have the BEST time!! Lucky you...wish I was going again!
Hi Gus, Corner is good. The best idea is just let the pilot (Thomas) know that you want to take photos and he will position you accordingly. You can move around your little pod to get the best angle at any time during the flight.
No great advantage anywhere as they turn the balloon around so all get great views!
Hi Gus, normally they position you in the basket to balance out the weight. So this maybe something to discuss with Byron Bay Ballooning when you book your flight? The viewing is exceptional from any spot. However, I would mention your idea about best viewing platform. Have fun! Del.
