What are the outdoor concerts like? I can't seem to find any information online. What can you bring in? How early should you arrive?
Hello! It depends on which outdoor concert you are interested in. The Buffalo News Summer Jazz Series takes place on the museum's Delaware Stairs overlooking Hoyt Lake on five Sundays in July and August. You can find more information by going to our website and clicking on "Events," then searching for Event Type > Music and Performances.
We also recently held Rockin' 2017, a large outdoor rock concert in our parking lot. This fundraising concert will happen annually and has different rules and regulations than the Summer Jazz Series. Stay tuned to our website for more information about Rockin' 2018.

I would recommend arriving really early to get parking and finding a good spot. You can hear well enough at the west end of Hoyt Lake...I'm not sure of the container policies, however. You would have to check the city parks system rules...probably no alcohol. You could bring chairs, blanket, picnic foods, but need to be observant of trash policies. Be mindful that there may be a party or wedding at the casino bldg which might restrict where you could set up. Have fun!
I have never attended the outdoor concerts. Therefore I am unable to help.
Sorry can no answer your question, never attend to the concert
The July/August outdoor concerts are held in conjunction with the Buffalo News. The 2017 schedule appears not to be available as yet. I suspect that as a proxy, you can read about the 2016 event to get a sense of the program. It is free and actually on the steps outside of the museum overlooking the Lake.
