Have limited time here but would like to stop. My 10 year old and I will be leaving Sedona on an April morning, stopping at Walnut Canyon to do the Island Trail, and then stopping at Wupatki before heading to the East entrance of the Grand Canyon where we will stay for 2 nights. Plan to drive past Sunset Crater without stopping as I've explored it before. Wondering if you drive from pueblo to pueblo or if you must go on foot between them. Also, since we are limited on time which ones should we focus on since we may not have time for all of them - not sure how many there are. Thanks for the advice!
We drove and stopped for quite some time at 3 oft he sites; IF you stop at the visitor center, which I think it the first stop, they will have a more detailed map and can tell you what you have time to do before you head to the Grand Canyon. I'm guessing that we spent somewhat less than 3 hours to drive and explore the 3 area that we stopped at but we did spend a lot of time at 2 of the places - then we drove on to Page that evening and had not trouble making it before suppertime. You'll both enjoy the stops that you can make.
