It’s always beautiful but I’d go for early May if you have to choose just one.

The garden is always pleasant even in winter because of the base structure. Anytime in spring- really March to May- is spectacular because of the blooming plants.

I agree June would be better for outdoors. But great just about any time you want to go if you don't mind the cold. I believe that the butterfly exhibit may be open in June though. Check first with the Botanical Gardens directly. There is always something going on.

There are many plants and flowers for each season. The weather would be warmer in June for all the outside gardens.

I would choose May because of pleasant weather and the spring flowers. Of course there’s always something blooming and you can check their website to know what’s happening during your planned visit. The Butterflies Live exhibit is a must see! You’ll walk around with the butterflies in their own habitat, as they gracefully flutter to and fro. Enjoy your trip!

I would definitely recommend May. By June most of the spring flowers will be gone and the heat could be an issue.

My advice to you is as a result of talking with a hotel desk clerk who said that the heat is really unbearable at times starting in June, plus the tourist traffic picks up considerably.

I would recommend May for possibly better temperatures, and less crowding.

The garden is spectacular any time of year! Richmond is already seeing crocus, daffodils and forsythia now, at the end of February! Trees are blooming there. So if you are looking for spring blooms, think earlier.

I have been in all seasons and it is beautiful whenever I go. Best spring months would be April & May. June is gorgeous, too, but it is hot.

Either month is great. There’s so many different areas to explore. It is nice weather in both months. School is out by mid June in this area. If you have children, the butterfly pavilion is fun. It is a misted enclosed area where you and a mass of varied species share a small area up close, live one on one! There are shaded areas with a babbling stream and winding trails, rose gardens in full sun, tots and children area for fun, games and crafts, great photography areas through out! Afterwards, enjoy the tea house for lunch or the cafe at the admission area. If you are lucky you can get there when they sell native plants. There’s a lot to enjoy. Take your time and wear cozy shoes and comfy cool clothes.

If you are interested in a particular flower, (roses), I would definitely call them. Otherwise, the gardens are always beautiful. The butterflies will be there both months. We go about every 4 - 6 weeks and with all the replantings, we are never dis

appointed.

It's beautiful in all seasons, but with the unpredictability of Virginia's weather you will probably see more blooming in early June. If I were you I would call them directly and ask that question as they have different attractions throughout the year.

We went to see the Christmas lights. I would call them because they have so many different types of flowers.
