I'm flying there again in a few weeks. But other than photos of the skyline from the water on a ferry, I could not find any good angles.
Where should I be in the city to get good shots of the downtown seattle skyline. Also if you were there for a sunset, where should I be to get the right angle?
Hi, We drove up to Kerry Park for the iconic view which should not disappoint (depending on the weather you might also get to see Mount Rainier in the background!) A telephoto lens or zoom on your phone would also give you a great view from there. Otherwise hop on a ferry to get a view from the water back to the city.
It all depends on the weather there. Kerry Park is a real good place for the view of the city, You can also consider the Columbia Center, a 76 story building with an observation deck at the top, or the Smith Tower at 35 or 356 story, which has an outside walk around deck at the top, The Smith Tower is actually shorter then the Space Needle. You would have to be a registered at the Mediterranean Inn which has one of thee best views of the city and harbor and is widely known for it's sunset views. If you were to go there, and weather permitting, bring a bottle of wine and maybe a cheeseboard, you won't regret it.
Kerry Park is a very popular location and perhaps one of the best places to photograph the Seattle skyline etc. Another hidden gem is the Skyview Observatory (73rd floor) at the Columbia Center on 4th Ave in dwntwn Seattle. Hope this helps and enjoy your stay. Be safe on your travels.
Looks like JURatGNR answered your sunset question, and the other reviewers did as well about what you can hope to photograph from Kerry Park: city skyline, space needle, Rainier if you’re lucky. Enjoy.
I also second Kerry Park - simply for the unhindered view of the Space Needle (and with the cooperation of the weather: Rainier in the background) Good luck!
Kerry Park is a must! While you’re there, walk the neighborhood too...really nice.
Sunsets; go to the park at Don Armeni boat ramp in west Seattle. From there, you’ll get a great view back to the city across the bay and it will catch the evening sun reflecting on the Seattle skyline.
To see the sunset over the water and Elliot Bay, go to the outside sitting area/park in Pike Place market. You may catch a ferry or sailboat reflecting on the water with the sun behind it. It’s a good angle.
But a sunset ride on the Bainbridge Island ferry is always nice to.
Perhaps over to Alki Beach, but I'm not certain!
