Would you recommend staying here over staying at a tented camp inside Tarangire NP? We are considering this accommodation as well as the new Ang'ata Tarangire Camp for our safari in late May 2017.
This place was awesome. If you want to do a dawn balloon ride you need to stay inside, else it doesn't matter
Sorry for the delay in responding. The advantage of staying in the park is that you get to stay longer on safari and start earlier as you don't have the curfew and you don't have to clear the entry. We did not see the villages in the park other than in passing so I can't comment on the accommodations or service. I can say that Maramboi was outstanding and my preference would be to stay there when I go back.
I am not familiar with Ang'ata but there are plenty of animals on property at Maramboi. You can even do a wildlife walk with a local guide. You get super close to zebras, wildebeest, etc. I have nothing but great things to say about the facilities and the people at Maramboi.
Sorry for the late reply - yes stay at Maramboi Tented Camp. It was the best lodge we had on our safari trip
It really does depend on what your looking for. Maramboi is such a lovely place to stay and enjoy your holiday. You wont regret it, however if your looking for something a bit more 'at one with nature' then you might be better off at the Tarangire camp although we didn't stay there, we did stay at the Seregenti tented camp and absolutely loved it! We visited Tanzania for 10 days and travelled to different camps every few days; I would definitely want to travel around again when we go back. It is personal preference, maybe have a look at all options and do a pro's/con's list to help make the final decision.
I would stay at Maramboi. You will have the best experience!
I have not been to the Ang'ata camp, but Maramboi was outstanding. I would not gamble my expensive safari time on a new place when there is a very high value, no-risk alternative available. Given the cost and time involved, your decision is not the same as checking out a new restaurant in your town.
