Hi Andre,

I went in June this year and we saw plenty of whale sharks.

It is the most amazing experience seeing something that big swim towards you.Talking to other people either side of my trip, they also saw between 4-6 different whale sharks. I went with Ningaloo Blue as they have a non sighting policy and will take you out on the next available day at no cost if there is a non sighting. I would suggest you book your trip out early in your stay and keep a spare day up your sleeve in case of bad weather(cancellation) or a non sighting. Some other operators offer something similar. I found Ningaloo Blue excellent in every aspect and as good any tour operators I have been with on the GBR. If you want to see the Manta Rays I have been told there is a resident population in Coral Bay about 155km south of Exmouth. You will need to hire a car though as the Coral Bay tours do not pick you up if you are staying in Exmouth. You could also hire some snorkel gear at Exmouth visitor centre (about $10) and drive out to Turquoise Bay and do the drift snorkel. You will definitely see humpback whales on whatever tour you go on as there are plenty along the coast at that time of year. Hope this helps.

Hi Andre, I agree with Martyboss, above. The best time is probably June but whenever you go you will see amazing things on the the reef. All the the whaleshark tours work together to make sure that everyone gets to dive with the whale sharks if its possible. They tell me it is very rare not to see a whale shark during the expected time. However things change and the previous photographer i went out with says the Whale sharks had been out this year since late Feb. This is unusual. In May you have a better chance of seeing duegons and Minki whales but in July you will see humpbacks. Ningaloo Blue's boat is rated for 60 but they only take 20 max so personal and loads of fun.

Hi Andre, We did not dive with Ningaloo Blue, Trip Advisor will not acknowledge the business we dived with. Which was DIVE NINGALOO, 8 King Place, Exmouth. check web page, same name & FB. Phone: 0456702437. We booked well ahead & found they provided an excellent personal, 5*experienced, catered to individuals not the masses. You will not find a better diving day, in my belief & no we are not related in any way.Don't forget to check the Navy Pier is open & book a dive - don't miss it. Have a great time. It's a fantastic place. Cheers.

Hi Andre, I think June/July are definitely very good months to visit the reef and you will have a very good chance to spot a lot of wildlife. I was there in May and we saw whalsharks, dungeons, dolphins, turtles and many fish of course. A friend of mine visited the beginning of July and she saw humpbacks and mantarays aswell. So what ever months you choose you will have an amazing experience!
