The time a taxi takes from the airport depends largely on the hour of the day. At 3:00 AM you could probably make it in about 30 minutes or so. At 3:00 PM it could take a very long time. When I had an early morning flight out of Chicago, I actually went and stayed the night at an airport hotel to be sure I would make it. A good strategy. I can't remember the taxi fare--sorry!

When I stayed there, I took the train and it took us about 10-15 minutes,(traffic), to get there. The hotel is near Wrigley Field, if that gives you a point of reference. As far as cab fare, not really sure. We did Uber.

It took less than 1 hour to get to O'Hare airport traveling in the morning about 7:00 am on a Saturday. The taxi cost just under $50 for 2 people (plus tip of course).

The hotel is in the city near the lakefront so is not close to O'Hare or Midway airports. A cab would cost @$45 one way. Hope this is helpful.

The closest airport is midway. I'm not exactly how close it is. Google it and you will come up with the exact distance. With Chicago traffic a short distance can seem to take forever at certain times of the day. Costs for a cab I honestly have no idea. When I stayed we pretty walked to most places we were visiting except for a couple but we were still pretty close to them. Google maps and a search for cabs would be your best bet.
