Is there a lot of walking as my husband has a bad foot.
The property is fairly large so I’d suggest having a room closer to the main lobby. There are also elevators situated throughout the property. They also offer transportation to the golf course and I’m sure they’d accommodate you for other needs such as the winery.
My husband and I were there last March and it was freezing for the South. The occasion was a graduation for a son. We did walk some of the property and as stated above is purely discretionary.
There is a fair bit of walking because the hotel and grounds are sprawling. I took my parents there for lunch at the winery which is next door to the hotel. My father walks with a cane and we dropped he and my mother at the front (by the fountain), and I would say it is about 125 feet to the front door from there. When you get in the winery there is not a lot of walking to the table in the restaurant or for a wine tasting, but if you want to go on the wine tasting tour, there are 2 sets of stairs you would have to climb to do so. To walk from the winery to the hotel is down a path (about 200 feet), then across the parking lot (another 150 feet), then down a set of steps and across a little road (another 50 feet), to the front entrance of the hotel. Then, depending where your room is, it could become a bit of a stretch for someone with a bad leg.
The amount of walking is in your discretion.. The Staff is very accommodating with golf carts and vans to help transport guest, particularly individuals needing assistance. There are beautiful nature trails and hikes but as I said this is purely discretionary. The restaurants and winery are in close proximity.
Enjoy your stay. Should be a beautiful time of year.
I agree with the previous answers tho, however if you gonna take the tour it’s gonna be be quite difficult
I agree with the previous responder though I didn't think any of it to be excessive.
