Is hotel walking distance to shops and restaurants and is it safe to walk?
There is a cluster of restaurants: Chipotle Mexican Grill, Subway, Starbucks, Vietnamese restaurant, etc., a 9-minute walk away from Doubletree Hilton San Jose Airport Hotel. I walked with someone In the evening to get to this cluster of restaurants from the Doubletree and felt safe. A casino: Casino M8trix is a 5-minute walk away. There is another hotel right by these restaurants, the Fairfield Inn by Marriott San Jose Airport which you might prefer if you want to be right by them. You could Google Map between these two hotels and see what's around.
There are a few restaurants within two blocks of the hotel!
It is not really a shop friendly environment
I walked to Sprouts about 2 miles
path no so safe.
Safe yes Not too many shops but a short ride (cab or car) to many
It is in a business district with not too many shops or restaurants nearby. It does have a nice riverside walk/run trail. Yes, it feels safe.
I believe your question is answered by others already. It is not a convenient walking location hotel.
Except for a nearby Denny's which is walking distance, the answer is NO.
It is safe to walk in the area of Hilton San Jose, but it is a long walk to shops & restaurants - I think that the nearest ones are at the airport itself. Personally, if I were staying there without a car, I'd take a taxi.
