Where is a good spot at a beach to have a picnic with two young children ? A calm beach preferably
Doran Beach. Picnic tables, restrooms and calm surf. $7 admission and worth it.
i concur...doran beach...but there are also picnic talbe on the head if it is not too windy...but no real beach access, however, great views and a nice park like area on the cliffs..
Doran Beach is calm & flat, easy access, no hiking.
There are very nice State Beachs all along the highway. Some had picnic tables and I think they all had bathrooms. We drove as far as the Russian River and the returned. I liked the Russian River park the best.
Doran Beach Regional Park is the best, especially with children. A good beach to play in the sand and water, no rip tides like many other locations, the surf is fairly calm. Easy access and one of the parking lots has a restroom, very handy with the kiddos. Get there early, it can fill up, especially on the weekends and holidays.
Doran Park near Bodega Bay has a 2-mile stretch of sandy beach. This is a great and popular place to picnic.
Stinson Beach near Muir Woods & Mt. Tamalpais is also another good spot.
Have fun & enjoy!
Coming from the town heading out that way there was a few beaches before you got to the Head on the Bay Side and then on the Oceanside there were many children on the one beach down from the head there was a fairly steep staircase that can be easily negotiated
Anywhere inside the breakwater, there should be no surf unless very high winds, and there are lots of play areas, and some years ago, picnic areas.
Yes. Doran Beach Regional Park. Good beach access, flat, clean, reasonable surf, dogs, children, picnics. There's a small fee to get into this area since it's a Regional Park but worth it.
