Hello,

Just returned from Peru a day ago and went on the Pirahna fishing excursion. A lot of fun and memorable, but I don't know if I would recommend it because of the very long boat ride. It took us 2 hours to arrive at the smaller outlet leading to Lake Valencia, and then another 40 to the lake to fish. We spent maybe 1.5 hours actually fishing, and then headed to their property to prep and fry the fish for lunch (we brought a chef with us who was dropped off before we anchored to fish). Because it is winter there, the ride back was very cold (down parka, scarf, hat) and took us three hours to return. It is considered only a full day excursion. We left at 8:00 and returned at 4:00. You won't have time for an afternoon excursion, but can sign up for the twilight river tour, or the night walking tour which start around 7:00PM. The cost for the pirahna fishing was $120/pp US.

Having said all this, Inkaterra is a magical place, and the guides and wait staff were amazing. Enjoy your trip :-)
