How do I get here from my cruiseship port in Xiamen?
If you really want to take a bus, walk South on dondu road (东渡路) for 10 minutes until shangjian bus stop (商检). If you're unsure, you can ask the staff at the terminal how to wall there, just show them the characters. Take bus #22 (1 or 2 yuan) about 12 stops to shada baicheng (厦大白城). Walk a block in the same direction the bus was going, then turn left on haibin road (海滨中路). Since the bus stops on a highway, be careful crossing the street. Go right on the first road you come across, haibin road (海滨路), then the first left, lingyun road (凌云路). At the end of that road, turn right, then take the first left and walk down for a while until you reach the gate. This is the southwest gate of the park.
I know this sounds rather complicated, so like Missy Sydney suggested, you can just take a taxi there. Show him the name in Chinese as almost no taxi drivers in Xiamen speak or read English. 厦门园林植物园. He may ask which gate, "shenme men?", to which you can say ximen (she muhn, 西门，West gate), or you can go to east gate which is called dongmen (东门).
Enjoy! And bring plenty of water before you go in; drink vendors are scarce there. If you're continuing on your cruise, also show the taxi driver the Chinese name for that terminal, 东渡码头, otherwise show the Chinese characters of wherever you're going next.
If there's a group of you a taxi is probably best. The name of this place in Chinese is 厦门植物馆 xiamen zhi wu guan.
Hello there, very easy. Xiamen is an island. It is not very big and the Botanical Gardens are quite close to where your ship will berth. You can just get a taxi, it should cost no more than 40 Yuan. Don't forget to go to Gulang Yu, it is just a very special place, but try to avoid Sunday as it gets very crowded. I hope this has helped you Suzanne
Xiamen is not a big city. A taxi will do at less than 100 RMB. There's a railroad park right next to the Botanical Garden's main gate, and it's worth going. You may plan to visit it after you come out of the botanical garden. It's built along the one of the retired and oldest rail roads of Xiamen. You may plan to get in from its one gate and go out from another gate at the other end of the rail road.
It was a pity that we walked only a short way in the railway park and got back to the gate we entered, because we were all tired out after a whole day's visit in the botanical park. We didn't take the shuttle van inside the park. Instead, We walked all the way up the hill for the visit and down to the main gate in the botanical park. Walking in the botanical park was a great experience. You may enjoy seeing the beautiful views and stop at any place to take a close look at something interesting to you, and you may enjoy the fresh air at the same time.
Enjoy your stay in Xiamen!
