I noticed the sign regarding no paper in the toilets. Could you explain how that works so that the room doesn't take on an unpleasant odor? Thanks
Hi! In all Peru the septic systems aren't up to western standards, so paper thrown in the toilet can cause, over time, back ups to the pipes- we empty trash every day in each room and each bin has a lid over it. So it isn't waste that accumulates over days at all.
I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any further questions :)
There has never been an odor issue whatsoever in any of the places I've been to in Peru, and I've traveled there 7 times, and stayed for 6 months at a time. At Green House, the bins are emptied daily so that solves that :)
Every place I have been in South America is the same. No paper in the toilets because of the septic systems. There is always a convenient trash can with a lid close to the toilet, and the trashcan is emptied daily. I never had a problem with odors.
