Planning a trip to Hong Kong with my family (6 adults and 2 kids, both aged under 5) I've heard that Causeway Bay is one of the prime areas to stay at. Could anyone recommend some good vacation rental places in and around this area? Looking to travel in the first week of May for 6 nights. Thanks in advance for your responses.
Hong Kong is incredibly small. You can stay at Causeway Bay, or North Point. Prices are various, depending on your budget. Best stay is the Peninsular Hotel in Kowloon, or the Conrad just behind the Pacific Mall. Cheapest hotels can be found in Mong Kwok, or near Jordon Road in Kowloon.
Take the Star ferry to criss cross H.K. Harbour from Kowloon to H.k., cost only $0.30 or 25? Cents. It's an amazing ride, at night time, you have the best view of the Harbour by night.
Wander around Wan Chai by night, lots of eateries on the side street stalls, great food at dirt cheap prices.
You cannot get lost in h.K. As it is a small Island. Many people speak English.
Take the public bus to Stanley Market. Go see the Birds street in Kowloon in early morning, they pack up by 11:00.
There are 2 women's street in Causeway bay where you can buy all kinds of cheap clothing.
Take tram rides,USA $0.25? Sit upstairs, you enter at the back of the tram, pay when you leave. Have exact change, they do not make changes. $ H.K. 1.60? The tram will take you from one end of H.K. To the other.
Go to see Happy Valley , on Wednesday and Saturdays, there are races, it'll be very crowded.
Do take bathing suits, May will be so nice, there are many beaches, go by taxi, it'll be less than $usa 10:00 from harbour town side to beaches side.
These are beaches I recommend in order that I like, Clear Water Bay, (Kowloon side) big wave bay. Shek oh, deep water bay, Repulse Bay, ( the most famous, but more people). South Bay, etc
Hope this helps. Bon Voyage.
What you need to keep in mind if you've never visited Hong Kong before is that the rooms are usually very small especially bathrooms. So traveling with a big group will most definitely require multiple rooms if you don't find an apartment.
Causeway Bay is nice but so is Wan Chai and Central. I've stayed in all these areas and have commented on them in my profile. Also, if you want more action you might want to think about staying across the bay in Kowloon, it's much more lively and there's lots of Hotels to choose fro there. Good luck!
We stayed at the Rosedale Hotel, Causeway Bay on a bed and breakfast basis and paid for evening meals as and when we ate there.
However, if you want to cater yourselves, try airbnb or owners direct websites. Agoda is a good company for hotels but not sure whether they offer self-catering accommodation.
Good luck with finding somewhere.
Apartment Kapok in Wan Chai - self contained rooms in a quiet part of Wan Chai close to the Ferry pier for easy access to Tsim Sha Tsui. I used to live in the adjacent block which is private apartments and it's a great location. Lots of taxis line up in harbour road and it's an easy walk to the the MTR station to reach Causeway Bay and everywhere else! It also has a choice of eateries close at hand.
Yes I can offer some help because I know the area well because I often stay there when I travel to Hong Kong. What is your primary requirements? convenience? public transport to get around? do you mind smaller rooms in sacrifice for convenience? budget? middle of the range?
May is not peak season and you may find value deals. Try to search serviced apartments or hotels in Tin Hau area which is only one station next to Causeway Bay.
For Kowloon side, Jordan starion is another choice for budget hotels or apartments.
Get quick answers from Causeway Bay staff and past visitors.
