Hol Chan Marine Reserve Questions & Answers

Dorking

Hi - we'll be visiting Belize next May. There's a few dive options which is adding up quite expensive. If we chose to snorkel here instead of diving, would we be missing out?

We only did a night dive there, but i think it would be an excellent choice for snorkeling. Not too deep.

Contact Steve or Gil over at Neptune's Cove...they will take care of you.

Try to book a package deal that included hotel and diving. That will save money. If you book separate the cost is higher.

We only smoke led and we're disappointed. Water is murky at the Reef from all the sunscreen.

Snorkeling there is good value for the experience. And if you want deep dives then you won’t be missing out if you only snorkel. That said after 3 times snorkeling there I wanted to dive it so I could enjoy the experience from beneath. I loved the dive there. But if you had to trade off a dive location you would be happy to just snorkel Hol Chan

I only did snorkeling at Hol Chan. I will say that is worth a day trip and not very expensive if your looking to fill a day and relax a bit.

Diving in Belize is very affordable and comparing scuba to snorkeling is pretty apples and oranges. Perhaps you're looking to get scuba certified while on the trip and that's the cost you're referring to?

I LOVE snorkeling but there's no comparison to really being down there diving.
