Due to a very tight conference schedule, we will only have one day-July 18, 2017-to do the GBR snorkeling tour. What are the typical weather conditions in July? How often are tours cancelled in the winter time due to the weather? We have done snorkeling in other parts of the world but always in the summer months for the particular location.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Thank you for your question. The Great Barrier Reef is a great destination year round, in July the weather is dry and clear. As we are in the tropics it is not going to be very cold. The water temperature averages around 24°C. We do however supply wetsuits free of charge if you are used to warmer waters. Our tour runs year round unless it is very poor weather conditions (which sometimes happens in Cyclone season, but July is not the season for Cyclones.)
Hope this helps, feel free to contact us for any other questions!
Thank you so much for your prompt replies. Your answers are encouraging. Once our conference schedule is confirmed, we will go ahead and reserve.
Many thanks and Happy New Year!
March through August is the perfect time to see the reef. It is a tropical area so has a dry and wet season as opposed to 4 regular seasons. Winter is dry, warm and clear skies. Obviously there is a chance of rain any day anywhere but July is optimum.
