Arctic Botanical Gardens (Lystigardurinn) Questions & Answers

Reno, Nevada

Hi Derek,

We will be in Akureyri mid-June. Will there be many flowers in bloom at the botanical gardens at that time or should we just skip it. Thanks.

Hello Mary,

I was in the botanical garden just a few days ago, and many of the plants are already in bloom, so by mid-June it will be lovely :) All of Akureyri is blooming these days with more green popping up almost each day. Enjoy your stay in Iceland :D

Lucky you! Yes, there should be flowers on show in June. We were there recently, and we saw neat splashes of colour. Have a look by the water feature. I am glad we didn't miss it. Having said that though, much of what we saw were things which we see in the UK, but it was lovely to see these nicely cultivated specimens in such a lovely setting.

Sorry this is possibly too late but if your into gardens etc very worth a visit and it's a nice walk up from town,

Also if the local buses are still free they are a very good way of seeing how the average Icelander lives

Enjoy
