How strenuous is the biking? My 73 year old mother will be with us. She’s in good shape, but doesn’t usually ride a bike anymore. Thank you!
Perhaps if you booked a private tour for just you guys they may be able to tailor it to make sure its suitable. It's not strenuous but it can be a busy cycle route in parts with other cyclists and tourists walking :)
I agree with sjtom17 - not strenuous, but more so stressful
And you don't need a bike helmet in Amsterdam either .Ok .
If I can bike the city of Amsterdam on a bike including the country , your mother can too .I also give tours to people and I am in my 60's too . Holland is all flat and very easy for this . I would take her out the first morning to a coffee shop than to the Anne Frank Hous which is extremely easy plus the rijks museum . All that she can do very easy . And I have Arthritis problems too .
I’m fairly active at 69 and I just did the City tour for the second year in a row along with my husband, no issues. Last year I did it with my granddaughter - I hadn’t been on a bike in 15 years. Loved it! It’s was one of my favorite memories of Amsterdam. Our 72 year old friend went along this year. I would love to have done the tour to a village, but couldn’t fit it in. They use the Electra Townie bikes which use flat foot technology. We had no muscle aches, just fond memories! I’d suggest she go for it!
Biking within Amsterdam is generally flat however you always have to be on the offensive ant intersections. In the country is flat also but make sure you plan accordingly for bucking wind.
