West Coast Railway Heritage Park Questions & Answers

Glass House Mountains, Queensland, Australia

We are planning a trip to Whistler from Australia for Christmas 2017. Is the Polar Express worthwhile for kids aged between 2-10 years. Also, as we won't have a vehicle, what is the best way to get to Squamish from Whistler. Thank you.

The Polar Express event comprises a 45 min train ride, followed by a visit to Santa's Village and all the activities in the Ice Cave ! It is a perfect experience for families, and wonderful for kids in the 2-10 year-old age range. Watch the movie before you come, as what you will experience replicates the characters and train ride in the movie. Plan to be here for about 2-3 hours in order to see and join in everything.

Getting to Squamish from Whistler without a car is probably best arranged through the Greyhound Bus company. They have a morning trip down and afternoon returns. Take a cab from the Squamish Bus Terminal to the West Coast Railway Park - a 2 km ride.

Hope to see you on one of the four weekends that Polar Express will be running ! Go to the WCRA website to check on train departure times and availability. Ken Tanner

The Polar Express is fun for all ages. The travel time from Whistler to Squamish is about 40 minutes or so. You can travel by Greyhound or local transit. Car rentals are reasonable for the day.
