My husband and I will be staying at Esperanza in October. However, I am getting concerned about all the crime and travel advisories in effect for Mexico, specifically Cabo. Curious if recent guests have felt safe specifically traveling to and from the hotel. As well as any concerns about general safety/security at the hotel.
Thank you for reaching out regarding your upcoming October visit to Esperanza.
For 16 years, our private enclave has been a haven for guests and residents, who enjoy two private beaches, pools, restaurants and guests-only access to the peace and serenity of our intimate resort
Esperanza’s peaceful and tranquil setting continues to attract top celebrities and industry leaders looking for a peaceful escape.
Los Cabos is a safe destination to visit that continues to attract millions of tourists from around the globe each year. More than 2 million tourists visited Los Cabos in 2016 without experiencing a single incident.
At Esperanza, the safety of our guests is of the utmost importance, and we take every precaution at the resort to protect guests’ privacy during their stay.
We have had a busy summer, and we are looking forward to welcoming our guests in the months ahead. It is business as usual at the resort.
I was there 3 weeks ago and always felt safe whether at the hotel or traveling to and from.
Hi, the Hotel is very safe and private. They have great security and the staff is amazing. You will love it.
Hello I just came from Cabo this past Sun. Traveled from August 21-27. I was there for an entire week. Cabo is very safe and do not let the news scare you. Esperanza resort is a very safe top notch resort you will have a lovely time and super safe. A lot of tourists were here everyone was having fun. I think the news needs to stop period it's not true. I was in Cabo for a whole week my friends told me not go to Cabo because of the news. I had such a great time there and nothing but good times and good memories for me. Have fun it's totally safe and do not listen to the news you will not be disappointed.
We felt very safe traveling to and from the hotel, while we were at the hotel, and safe in any transportation we took to downtown .
We booked transport to and from the airport through Esperanza as well. Very safe and efficient.
We never felt unsafe and have been there for the past 4 years.. used a car service. Mayaland and also the cars from the resorts and they were always great. I looked up safety tips for Cabo before and it's just like anywhere strange, they tell you never travel alone, go out late, get too intoxicated etc..the same for any city.. and we also read that Cabo has their own police for tourists because they live on the business. Be aware of your surroundings.. but Esperanza is top notch, beautiful and we felt very safe there.
We felt very safe. We were surprised to hear of the travel warning after we returned as we saw no indication of danger while we were there.
We were there last week and came home to read the new trave advisory. We felt safe on the resort grounds which are behind guard gates. As for transportation we only used the hotel taxi or planned hotel transportation all week. Both options are large SUVs driven by hotel staff (even the taxis). We were picked up from the airport and driven back to the airport by prearranged hotel transportation (for a fee). Be aware that the prearranged transportation is more expensive (say $100- $150 to and from places) while taxis charge per hour (approx $50/hour, but the rates were never clear to us seemed to change based on the driver). One strange thing is that the hotel taxis are able to drive you to a destination, but theoretically can't leave the hotel empty to pick you up afterwards. So your option to return is to have the hotel taxi wait for you, or to send a friend in a separate taxi from the hotel to pick you up and drive you back to the hotel. We did this taxi juggling because we didn't want to use non-Esperanza transportation. I will note that we did see heavily armed military personnel on foot near the marina and another standing out of the roof of an SUV, both with machine guns drawn.
Jen. You are going to have the time of your life. No worries!!
We took Esperanza's private car to & from the resort. Their team will wear dark grey polo shirts with their names embroidered in white & they should have your names on their list. Have a blast!
Hi! We travel to Cabo several times a year and have never felt unsafe or had an issue. The hotel itself, is very secure with gated entries. It's best to not get inebriated and out of control when you go into town. That's just common sense anywhere you travel. Criminals usually target people that put themselves in bad situations, but that's in any city in America as well! Use reputable cab companies that the hotel recommends! Have fun!
We were there recently and rented a car for 6 days. While we always felt safe while out visiting different sites and activities we remained aware of our surroundings, knew when, where and how to get to our destinations and used google maps on our phones. Main roads are in very good shape and clearly marked. On the one occasion we traveled at night to the One and Only for dinner, we took private cars from the hotels both ways. You should be fine. Have a wonderful time. We are going back ourselves in October.
