I'm a bit nervous about my upcoming trip... I will be celebrating my birthday in December. I'm just a bit worried due to the mixed reviews. It looks like some people either love it or hate it. I'm okay with the hotel being a bit "outdated" as some comments have mentioned... My question/concern is, are the rooms clean? Also, the mixed reviews on food have me second guessing my choice in hotel... Any comments on the food? I'd love to hear honest feedback from recent guest. Thanks in advance!
Rhonda, I visited this resort for the first time in July 2016, went back in April 2017 and will be there again December 1-8th 2017. The service and employees have always been great. The rooms have been CLEAN, fyi - I always leave a tip for the maid service as they sometimes get overlooked. As others have said the food is good but not fabulous - Breakfast on adult side is awesome and if they don't have anything that looks interesting for lunch or dinner I'd go next door to the family side as their buffet is much larger. I feel some of the reviews are fair and some unfair- some people have out of this world expectations but for the money, location and service, you'll love the resort.
Please remember it Very Safe in Puerto Vallarta, the food is outstanding there is different restaurants with in the hotel try them all....enjoy your vacation....
I agree with the previous comments. Clean, great value. Food was decent... I actually preferred the adult side to the family side, just from the lack of crying babies. Didn't think there was that much difference in food.
I thought the rooms were clean, and a few US$/day keeps housekeeping appreciative.
The buffet breakfasts are excellent. Plenty of selection. May I recommend the huveos (WAY-vos) rancheros from the omelet lady, and a mimosa. Muy Bueno. Lunch/snacks are acceptable. Buffet dinner is the problem. The buffet is just to small to always have an adequate selection. Most days it will work out, but not always.
I stayed this May with 2 girlfriends and in September I went back with my husband. This was my 3rd stay overall. Rooms have been spotless. I've always had the oceanfront room. Food has been great, we are not fussy, though. I especially like the reservation restaurants. It is not outdated. They have been doing renovations since my first visit in May 2015 and are still working on improvements. The drinks are great. The thing to be aware of more than anything is the vendors. The are relentless. I plan on returning. We do alot of traveling and I think this resort is a great value.
Feel free to message me if I can answer any other questions.
I can understand you may have concerns when reading negative comments but don't know where they are coming from. My wife and I had NO issues at all with the room, cleanliness or things being outdated. The room was amazing and very clean, nice decor, huge marble tube and the food was beyond our expectations. We rated the Resort and our stay a 5 because that was our experience. Would we go back again? Yes, without hesitation.
Hi Rhonda T, just got back last week, really liked the area, I did not find it out dated, we booked an oceanfront jacuzzi room. Our tub was inside the room and when we first went in, we thought it was a little small but after viewing rooms that had their tubs outside, ours was not so bad! They were clean and well kept after housekeeping. The food was definitely hit and miss. We were disappointed with some of the buffet dinners, usually a buffet will have something I like, and they did but it was usually rice and carrots! The food was tasty just not a lot of options as being an adult only side and only 244 rooms, it was much smaller than the other side where the families were.
As much as we wanted to stay away from kids, we ended up going next door a few times for lunch and dinner as their buffets were different than the adult side and had better options. The lunches were usually ordered from a menu at the adult side and while the portions were small the food was really good! I always ordered a 4 course meal, lol. We did eat at the ala carte Paradise and the food was excellent. I would not worry as the place is beautiful, the drinks are the best we have ever had and the staff is great. They have a snack bar daily by the second beach bar and the one by our side has snacks and changes to sushi after 6 pm for snacks. Any other questions, please send me a message if you want :)
We loved it, the ocean front rooms are worth the extra money. We found the food to be very good.
The rooms are clean. I have to advise it is nicer at the Golden (adults only), than at the Club. The part that concerned me the most were the bathrooms, because even though they are clean, the old and colorful marble makes it look dark.
About the food... There is a restaurant upstairs that I liked the food very much. I would not recommend the French nor the Asian restaurant. The italian and the buffette are just OK. The snack is very good in tacos, ceviches and fast stuff. But I reaaaally loved the Room Service Hamburgers... Try them!!!
I hope you enjoy!
I have been traveling to mexico for over 20 yrs never stayed here before but i am November. Unfortunately not everyone can be pleased. They often forget how much u pay we paid $1485 cdn with tax for10 days minus the tax and ur paying 1100$ to fly eat drink sleep and transport for 10 days Super 8 in Canada is as much and u get a bagel. Like previously said when u go I assume 2 of u? Always allow about 10-15$ a day for 2 for tips. The maids are overlooked 1$ a day perperson is nice and maybe go to dollar store get keychains Coloring book and crayons for thier bambinos. A lil gift goes along way. Enjoy
