Am planning a trip to stay in November. I see a mention of a Visitors Permit, have no idea of what it is. Also, anyone go on any tours they can recommend? I am traveling with a 70 year old female who is mobile but is not interested in water sports. thank you in advance!
The Dominican Republic requires you get a visitors permit and you can type that in online and site will pop up to get it fast or face an extra hour plus at airport. Most hotels have tour offices and check yours to find out. They offer everything from local to historic site seeing. For a companion that age would recommend the motor tours as little walking versus dropping you off and picking you up later though most offer periodic stops to shop or site see. Doing it once you arrive versus online lets you adjust to any weather.
It should be noted not all countries require the permit but as a US resident it was required.
Thanks everyone for your responses. I still need to figure this out because of the various responses, but I do appreciate your taking the time to respond.
Change of plans ; although I still am flying into Punta Cana, I will be staying at Viva Wyndham in La Romana
Hey :)
There is no visitors permit to Dominican republic. After u arrive, just fill the imigration form and you are done :) I can recommend tour by "CultourAll" tour company. Trip is called Samaná. All-day trip to city Samaná, then farm with agriculture exhibition, then horse riding in jungle and visiting jungle waterfall, then way back to samaná and sailing to Cayo Levantado (Bacardi Island) and than back.
No water sports, not actually a much of PE :)
