Thanks Ann for your post. Stayed there in '78 for our honeymoon. Thought of going back for our 40th anniversary fo a week. Now I understand why we could not book in the main hotel.
Wondering now if we should return amid the renovations
Thinking of booking the HAL cruise from Boston to Hamilton.
The main hotel building is being renovated -- clearly needs an update . We stayed in the cottages closer to the beach and they were wonderful .
I don't know about the cruise but have to say that the bus system in Bermuda makes Elbow Beach accessible from most places. We went there regularly from St George's changed bus in Hamilton. Well worth the journey and St George's is a great place to stay.
Renos are practically finished and really upgraded to the best of best. While it is expensive most traveling here would know b4hand and allow for that. Its purely a place to relax & indulge oneself......totally worth it in my view the locals are utterly beautiful peoplefree bus from hotel everyday and beach is not overcrowded a plus. ...
I was just on that HAL cruise and it was not great like our other cruises were. But it's an option and you can take bus number 7 from Hamilton to the Beaches. Other then south shore beaches to me Bermuda has not much to offer. It's overpopulated overpriced location probably nothing like it was 40 years ago.
My cousin just visited on a cruise and took a taxi and spent a day and a night at Elbow beach. She said it was great and she would do it again. When we go we usually stay in one of the cottages with our kids. Love it and our kids love the kids club.
