What is the latest and earliest that you can catch the barge and water taxi to and from the island? Are you allowed to drive the golf carts on the beach? I noticed that the boat rentals are significantly higher than other places closer by, are the prices negotiable? Are there any seafood markets close by? How often are you allowed to exchange towels and is there an extra fee for this. Are you allowed to fish off docks/piers and do you need a Florida fishing license? If you rent a boat can you take it to Sanibel Island and back and how long would that take?
What is the best way to get to the resort from the Airport. We would like to NOT rent a car to save on $$ but wondering how easy that may be with groceries etc. I have spoken to transportation services that say that they will stop and allow us to get groceries on the way but then they drop at the ferry landing. Has anyone done this before? Is it easy to then get the groceries/bags where we need to go?
I have heard on the news about the release of water from Lake Okeechobee into the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico. It looks like Sanibel Island is taking a direct hit. How are the waters at the Palm Island Resort? Maybe a recent photo of the waters would be good to alleviate fears.
There will be four of us, two adults and two large children, and have booked an one bedroom. The agency (Gov Vacation Rewards) that I have booked through state that a one bedroom will sleep four. I saw somewhere that a one bedroom will only accommodate two. Will there be a sleeper sofa or should I book a 2 bedroom?
Just to be clear, you had to pay extra for the golf carts, even though you are staying at the resort?
We are planning our next vacation through GDV, and I had a few questions. We like to explore the area, however , the 55.00 round trip car ferry would limit that. Is there a place to leave your vehicle at the marina and take the water taxi back and forth. Also what is the latest that the water taxi delivers you back to the island?
