What travellers are saying
- Julie SYork, UK51 contributionsI was very lucky to have a wonderful weekend at Peacock Cottage in the grounds of Kirby Hall.
What a lovely place to stay with such great proximity to the amazing ruins of the Hall. We felt honoured, as we felt like custodians when we were on our own and to be able to wander round when it was closed felt very special.
We also did the audio tour which was really interesting, as well as the beautiful architecture there is a lot of history to learn about. A very wonderful experience made better still by beautiful weatherWritten 20 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MinnieM1928Cambridgeshire, UK422 contributionsWe visited on a sunny Sunday afternoon, the gardens are lovely and all the borders were in bloom and looking very colourful. We have RHS membership and this is a partner garden so we only paid for one of us. I think it is a little expensive for how much there is too see but as we only paid for one of us it was ok value wise.
We walked around the woodland and watched the swans on the lake with their babies. There is a cafe on site, we had tea and scones, the staff were very friendly, polite and they were constantly cleaning and clearing tables. We sat outside in the sunshine and relaxed for a while.
We saw the Hall from the outside but didn't pay to go in as we were happy just looking around the gardens.Written 19 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. On a very wet and stormy day we were glad of undercover picnic spot. A good spot to take young children with Zog trail. Well signposted and good parking spacesWritten 27 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- margaret m1 contributionI visit Fermyn woods most weeks, and Skylark cafe .
Years ago was quite pricey. In 2014 bacon rolls for two cost £ 8.so I brought my own food. and stayed away. During COVID the staff were great and menu so versatile.
Now you can buy a snack at Skylark cafe and it's value for money.Hurrah!!
Menu is varied and ideal for your hot or cold choices. not as expensive as other cafe in local villages and most of the food is made on the premises. Lovely slices of cake, tasty savouries and sandwiches.Well done Skylark. Always enjoy my visits now👍Written 21 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There is a nice indoor cafe where you can purchase food and drink and also plenty of room for parking as there are a number of car parks available with the bonus that there is no charge for Sunday parking.Written 18 July 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is a busy little cafe. We sat outside as it was a lovely day. Lots of people walking, children learning to fish, lots of wildlife on the lake. This is a must away from the hustle and bustle of the town centre. This will be a regular place for me to meet up with friends.Written 12 September 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - charlotte056Sandown, UK436 contributionsThe whole experience of driving round a quiet corner on a very quiet road and being confronted with the viaduct is excellent. The vast size of the viaduct is totally impressive. How the construction took place is mind blowing. You can walk under it and drive under it. You can drive miles from there and still get a great view.Written 17 September 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - sarpor283 contributionsThis statue is known and respected by many and rightly so. A lovely tribute to the towns once thriving steel industry and a good reminder for future generations.Written 31 July 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
