What travellers are saying
- Christiana BScotland, UK113 contributionsVery good area with colourful houses and many restaurants. Unique experience next to the canal. - Gregory KVancouver, Canada181 contributionsAt first we were very skeptical about it - we are not interested in attractions, they say, this one is more for children, let's see - and go; Then we parted ways, we even had to move the car to a longer parking lot, and spent much more time in the park than we had planned.
The park was opened in 1843, and is the third oldest park in the world (after Dyrehavsbakken - also in Denmark and Wurstelprater in Vienna). People say that Disney was inspired by the idea of Disneyland after visiting this place.
We couldn't resist buying a photo of my wife's iris. It's quite popular now. They took this photo for us, when you look at it, it seems that you are looking into infinity, some kind of space simply. My wife has different colored eyes, this is called heterochromia, but also the color of her eyes changes depending on her mood. When she is angry, her eyes are gray, when she is cheerful, they are greenish, and otherwise they are tiger-yellow. We made one that was walnut and blue at this point. In the park we completely relaxed, remembered our childhood, although we didn’t fall into it, we walked everywhere, enjoyed ourselves, admired the gardens, buildings, attractions, flowers, lay on the grass and laughed for no reason.Written 7 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I enjoyed the to floor ballroom very much. The garden looks lovely but I will have to return in the summer time to see it in bloom.Written 14 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Petra SBudapest, Hungary3 contributionsWonderful building and great exhibition. Just perfect for a chilly and windy day. The Egyptian part was especially rich but we saw some really nice pieces from Van Gogh, Monet and Gaugein. - Hany GBakersfield, CA1,089 contributionsAround 6 pm, the church itself was closed, but i was able to get a ticket to climb the tower.
It was not an easy climb, and you have to be kind of fit to climb it with it spiral wooden stairs. The view from the top was amazing and worth the climbing.Written 18 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Collections are really varied from the inside of churches and danish rooms, to dolls houses and toys though the ages. There’s even an area for kids to play in including a pirate ship and imaginary play. - BibliotekarienSweden62 contributionsHistorical sikte well worth a visit. A bit disappointed that the library was closed for renovations during our visit - please inform guests about this upon entrance. C.L. David made a name for himself as a lawyer and a board member of a number of Danish companies, and the museum used to be his own home. David never married and left his entire fortune, including a vast collection of art to the Danish state.
During his life David collected works by famous contemporary Danish artists, such as Willumsen, Philipsen, and Hammershoi. Also he collected some beautiful porcelain and Islamic works of art. After his death in 1960 the collection of Islamic arts in particular has been extended.
The museum is definitely worth a visit with much to see and do, and admission is free.Written 15 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. What a new gorgeous building with lovely open public spaces looking over the water. Extremely comfortable seats and excellent view from the very top balcony - great value for money at around £40 equivalent (everything else in Copenhagen was very expensive!)
A grand production of a grand opera with impressive cast - well-balanced singing and orchestra on form and the sound was intense especially hearing it from up high. I appreciated the subtitles in both Danish and English.
Easy to reach by public transport (2 buses via the central station) but the bus due after the performance didn't turn up so had to walk 30 minutes to the nearest Metro...best check travel arrangements late at night.
PS watch out for strange seat numbering - I was seat no 2 in the middle of the row but seat 1 was to my left and seat 4 to my right... Is this a Danish quirk?Written 24 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
