Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- Mans71Currie, Australia308 contributionsWe stopped in to see the amazing sculptures as we drove past and discovered a beautiful winery with spectacular wines and wonderful sculptures to walk around. If we had known this existed we would have tried to book in for a meal as it looked amazing.Written 12 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Vicki JWoodend, Australia566 contributionsVisited during the Budburst Festival and what a beautiful setting I am looking forward to going back. The wines are good and it was very nice enjoying a glass overlooking the garden. I found the people welcoming and friendly and the balcony is just the perfect spot to enjoy a nice glass of wine. Well worth making an appointment to visit the cellar door.Written 4 December 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - C...Gippsland, Australia95,452 contributionsOH my goodness, where do I start... it's inviting... the natural environment inviting children to play is just pure delight. There is a flying fox here that attracted my attention as I wandered in because I saw a child flying through the air. He was quite pleased with himself and so he should be... flying is exhilarating!!!
I wandered in under the trees to look around ... and discovered they had a swing that I like... I LOVE these round swings...so I asked a nearby parent if his children were likely to use it in the next ten minutes... he assured me they were sidetracked with something else. So I climbed in and just lost myself looking up at the trees and skies... I desperately want one of these swings!
The magic part for everyone is they are extending the park... they are going to make it bigger and bolder ... they will make it a place that everyone will want to visit... so that's magic for the town... magic for the kids, but in that... maybe the magic will be lost for me... a big kid wanting to go on a swing. But that's progress... and we need to share our environments.Written 13 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I stopped to walk here and it has everything that you want in a park, BUT ... it's not well maintained... and that's a shame. I also put the onus back on the visitors that come to the park and don't respect it enough to leave it the way they find it and leave rubbish for others.
The park has potential... there are huge undercover BBQ areas, a skate park, a children's playground, toilets and large areas of grass for children to run. They have planted trees here ...so it's going to be interesting to see how they add to its landscape... but right now, it just appears a bit neglected.Written 22 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There is a memorial stone on the front of the church that says it was blessed and laid by his grace, the most Revd. D. Mannix D.D, L.L.D- Archbishop of Melbourne on the 7th September of 1924.
Daniel Patrick Mannix (4 March 1864 – 6 November 1963) was an Irish-born Catholic bishop. Mannix was the Archbishop of Melbourne for 46 years and one of the most influential public figures in 20th-century Australia.
Born near Charleville in County Cork, Ireland, Mannix was the son of a tenant farmer, Timothy Mannix, and his wife Ellen. He was educated at Congregation of Christian Brothers schools and at St Patrick's College, Maynooth seminary, where he was ordained as a priest in 1890. On 1 July 1912, Mannix was consecrated titular Bishop of Pharsalia and coadjutor bishop to Archbishop Carr of Melbourne at Maynooth College Chapel. Mannix was not consulted about his appointment.
So the church has ties to someone who was quite influential. The Architect was A.A. Faisoh and the builder was Gull Brothers.
These days this pretty church is quite striking on the Main Street of Romsey... I caught it in Autumn with the beautiful trees turning red. It's a red brick building that is quite attractive.Written 11 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It was actually gifted to the Macedon Ranges Shire Council by Garnett, Link, Newnham, Thomas families and R.Graham/S. Ivan.
I stood here with a couple of ladies from Melbourne and we were all quite surprised that it was new to the town ( comparatively speaking) , but we all agreed that the area was quite pretty and it was a lovely addition.
There are prancing horses at the base of the fountain and lovebirds? doves? atop it... it's under a beautiful tree and there are bench seats next to it. It's worth stopping for a moment to look at this. ( It is also walking distance to a nearby cafe)Written 12 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The foundation stone was laid in 1875 and a wooden building was built costing 200 pounds consisting of a hall seating 250, a large stage and two rooms, one of which was a Library for education and enjoyment of the local community.
A new hall was built in 1884, costing over 1000 pounds. Sir William Clarke laid the foundation stone on 29 May 1884. The Institute conducted a variety of events as diverse as theatre and weekly balls to roller-skating and boxing.
A fire on 6 July 1904 damaged the wooden structure and the Institute was re-built and enlarged to its present state. Once again the Institute became the social focal point of the greater Romsey area.
The Institute, today, caters for a great variety of groups and functions such as: Senior Citizens Club; CWA; RSL; Romsey Gardening Club (winter meetings); Dance Academy; Line Dancing; wedding receptions; funerals; concerts; presentations; and birthday parties.
The building is an attractive feature on Romsey's streetscape and it will catch your eye... in front of this building is the town's fountain ...so it's worth going for a walk to look at this and appreciate the history of the area.Written 13 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This is a significant 19th century gold rush-era cottage in Romsey, that has fallen into disrepair and requires significant restoration. Seymour Cottage has sustained extensive termite damage that could lead to potential structural failures and is closed to the public due to safety concerns.
It was gifted to the Romsey & Lancefield Districts Historical Society by the last resident, Mrs Isa Allen in 1982. They are currently fundraising to restore it.
So what you will see here is simply from the roadside... and it's still quite a pretty building.... I would loved to have got closer but the gate is locked...so you can at this stage, only admire from afar.Written 11 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It was placed here in 1923 to commemorate the fallen soldiers from the district. It has since been added to for other conflicts.
There is a plaque that I found quite poignant, "Greater Love Hath No Man Than This. That A Man Lay Down His Life For His Friends." Whilst the concept is beautiful, it's sad that this even has to occur in our world and currently still occurs in places around the globe.
There is a white soldier atop grey stone. It stands out and there is parking nearby if you want to stop to walk around it.Written 11 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We often over look what is right in front of us when we are on the way to something... and that's probably what happens every day here... people just go from A to B without stopping to see what's right there.
There are memorial gates as you enter as well... erected by the family of Charles Thomson who died in active service in New Guinea at the age of 22 in 1943. There are gardens around the church giving it a very picturesque look.
The Romsey church was built in 1871, the foundation stone being laid in December 1870 by the Very Rev Hussey Burgh Macartney D.D.- Dean of Melbourne. Unfortunately the exact stone involved cannot be identified and it can only be presumed that an unmarked stone was laid. While the church was being built services were held in the Romsey Presbyterian Church by the kind permissions of Rev.W.A.Lind. The first service to be held in the new church took place in November 1871.Written 22 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Both of them have toilets and undercover BBQ areas, but this one is small and discreetly tucked away. Of the two , this one is a bit more picturesque with a creek running through it.
It's very green and there is pathway through it to the residential areas of the town. Not only is it next to a beautiful, small wooden bridge...but a small historic road bridge as well. There is parking here, but it is limited.
This is a very pretty park to break from driving and walk through. It is located on the corner of the Murphy and Main Street.Written 12 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
