Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Depending on how fit you are... feel free to start riding out of Bologna downtown (or, load the MTB on a car and save some 10 km by approaching the site by 4 wheels...rather than just 2... ), San Lazzaro -> Ozzano (Imola) direction... then, follow up indication for the Park (Gaibola? For exemple...). I suggest you to use ViewRanger or similar, VERY detailed map of the Area, select Settefonti / Abbadessa / Gaibola... and enjoy!!!

Many wonderful books, periodicals, music, and films I had access to via the museum. Deeply appreciated and I can't thank enough the staff members. There is one friend-of-the library-guy who always said 'arigato' to me, thinking that I am Japanese (really that is regrettable and RACIST) I will just let that go. I let the words of Michel Foucault to seep into my heart as I leave Bologna in June 2023. "Per sognare non bisogna chiudere gli occhi, bisogna leggere". or in English. "To dream you don't have to close your eyes, you have to read". Thank you!

I was immediately excited walking into this store. There was so much look at I almost didn’t know where to begin. Having spent most of my career working in women’s retail I could tell the merchandise was good quality and the prices a genuine bargain. As with most outlets most pieces were only available in a few sizes, but they still had enough variety to accommodate most. They also had a men’s section on their lower level.

I ended up purchasing a beautiful wool coat and a pair of on trend trousers. If I’m lucky enough to return to the area I would make a beeline to this store.

Within the "Parco dei Gessi bolognesi" (Park of the Bolognesi chalk rocks) this area is considered the one where a hiking trail is a must, because it's considered the most representative of the Park's attractions.
We obtained this information from the official Park website, and we had confirmation when we turned to the Park Visitor Center at "Villa Torre" (located, however, far from here, in the Ozzano municipality). In fact, on the one hand the karst landscape for which the Park is famous, on the other the chalk rocks giving the Park its name, have here their maximum examples.
The ring walk - quite easy - we have traveled is described in the official Park's website as "I gessi della Croara". From the tiny "La Palazza" car park we gradually descended along the edge of the great dolina (similar to the crater of an ancient extinct volcano) called "Spipola", until reaching, at the bottom, the entrance to the cave of the same name.
The cave can be visited, at least on public holidays; but reservation is required, which we didn't have it. So we just watched the scene of a group of children, led by speleologists, coming out of the cave, that their clothes proved rather muddy.
We then climbed the doline's edge towards the opposite side, until we reached the so-called "Il Casetto" point. The following part of the circuit foresees here a deviation towards the "Miserazzano" plateau, featuring bare chalk rocks, hardly colonized by few pioneer plants. From the plateau you can enjoy a beautiful view of the underlying - and highly urbanized - valley of the Savena river, and most of the city of Bologna, unexpectedly very close to this corner of wilderness.
From here you can return to the starting point.
Along the way some more or less deep sinks confirm - if any were needed - the karst nature of the territories.
The signage (a green arrow with the "I Gessi della Croara" writing) is decent.
This walk can obviously be combined with the cave visit, increasing its interest.
