What travellers are saying
- Narelle N4 contributionsWhat a lovely ferry ride from Brooklyn to Dangar Island. A lovely half hour walk around the island then lunch in the quaint cafe on the water.Written 2 June 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- JElliot32New South Wales, Australia3,264 contributionsWe hiked from Hornsby to Thornleigh station, so first thing to note is this fabulous walk is very accessible by public transport. We descended from the plateau at Hornsby via the beautiful Bluegum track. After that we followed the Benownie track to Thornleigh. This is part of the Great Northern Walk and the track is well marked. That said it is a genuine bushwalk, steep and slippery in parts, and walking poles can come in handy. The forests along the track are simply majestic, as are some of the views, while many of the creek crossings are picture perfect. And plenty of birdlife to experience, especially white cockatoos. All up the walk took us 3 and a half hours.Written 27 February 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- JElliot32New South Wales, Australia3,264 contributionsThis is a fairly modest but very pleasant park on Brooklyn's waterfront. It offers scenic views of the Hawkesbury River, old-fashioned netted-off river swimming baths, a small playground, picnic tables, barbecues and toilets. There is also a pathway that allows you an easy stroll around the foreshore. Within the park there is a section where the history (along with excellent, evocative old photos) of the Hawkesbury River Bridge, built in 1889, is really well told. Its completion was a major event of the time, firstly because its construction needed to overcome many problems of the site including the great depths of the river. It also meant that Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide were finally linked by rail, and this was seen as a big step towards Federation.Written 20 March 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Carolyn BurchamOrange, Australia409 contributionsI had come to visit my adult kids & cheek grandson last week & both my kids no I love my coffee. I was shocked that it was a tiny shop at the end of Westfield where the cars drive through to pick up alcohol & then theres a tab & the nice Thai restaurant. The kids brought my coffee & as we started to walk away, I had already started to take sip of Dr Coffee & WOW, this was lovely coffee, & Im sure what ever the coffee was, it was a beautiful cup of coffee! Yes, mum had to do some talking to her children to purchase another coffee as I needed another coffee after walking around Westfield, stopping & buying something but Dr’s Coffee was beautiful. When I return to see my kids & grandchild, i will be purchasing another Dr cofffee!!Written 19 June 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Jennifer CSydney, Australia304 contributionsThere are several pools suitable for every standard of swimmer. There is plenty of seating and plenty of shade so it's great for all ages and fitness levels. A bit hard to park. Another problem, the last twice we went the water slide was out of action which was very disappointing. Hope it is fixed for the start of the school holidays.Written 12 December 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Eli BSydney, Australia3,697 contributionsTo move into a brand new house is a great thing. To move into a new house designed by your son in 1950n was the most talked about residence in Sydney. the design overturned every architectural convention of suburban home design. It hovers , Frank Lloyd Wright style, over the edge of the bush with its stark, cube-like form, sent shock waves through the leafy tranquility of Sydney’s leafy upper North Shore. The house is one of the most complete and intact post World War design collection in public ownershipIIWritten 14 July 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- YvetteSydneySydney43 contributionsThis clock is a great feature, and many people enjoy looking at it, but alas the clock does not work and to my knowledge never has. It is a nice sculpture and pleasing to the eye, and I would not like to see it taken away.Written 10 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Anne M2 contributionsWe confirmed with Brooklyn Ferry Service that dogs were allowed however, they had to be muzzled or in a dog container. As we didn't have a muzzle (super friendly dog), we brought his container. I'd asked if we could leave our container on the ferry as we were returning on the next circuit, however, were told it's safety couldn't be assured. So we left it at the shed on the ferry wharf next to a stack of unlocked bikes. When we returned an hour later to catch the ferry it was GONE!!! The moral of the story, don't bring your container - they provide muzzles on the ferry (wasn't told this earlier) unless you bring your own padlock and chain. Sadly, among this little island of 300 people lurks a thief!Written 3 August 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- MadMark_0_0_0Sydney, Australia124 contributionsBar Island is situated at the mouth of Berowra Creek as it flows into the Hawkesbury River. It is only a small island covering some 3.8ha. It is uninhabited but rich in Aboriginal and European history.
Access is via water (ie boat) only, and is only a short boat trip from Brooklyn.
It is interesting to see the remains of the cottage and church from the 1870s and shells from the Aboriginal midden..Written 7 November 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - David TCentral Coast, Australia91 contributionsI came onto Tripadvisor to put a review up and found this? We often go to the Philippines, but I was not aware that the Philippines is already here at: 23 Anembo Rd, Berowra Waters, Hornsby, New South Wales, Australia? A bit of a concern???Written 11 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- mrdom5,201 contributionsIf you're not up for a long walk, like all the way from Cowan to Brooklyn, the short track from Cowan station to Jerusalem Bay is great. The only other access to Jerusalem Bay is by boat, so you might get it all to yourself. It's steep but less than 2 hours return. There's some decent food in Cowan.Written 8 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- GemElvSydney, Australia4 contributionsAs a family of 4 (2 teenage kids) we tried our first ever real life Escape Room. We loved the experience and learnt along the way how to think outside the box and work as a team. It was much more professional and interactive than we expected. We had so much fun and can't wait to come back to do the next room.Written 22 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
