Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- Heather WMelbourne, Victoria, Australia15 contributionsOne of the best and scenic places in Australia. Nestled in the Brisbane Waters you access this island getaway by Ferry. A feeling of peace comes over you stepping onto the islandWritten 10 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TAMAN1951Liberty Lake, WA8,907 contributionsGreat soot for an initial exposure to a bush walk.
Some interesting geology as well as plant life native to the region.
A short walk will provide some fantastic views.Written 4 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. To move into a new house designed by your son in 1950n was the most talked about residence in Sydney. the design overturned every architectural convention of suburban home design. It hovers , Frank Lloyd Wright style, over the edge of the bush with its stark, cube-like form, sent shock waves through the leafy tranquility of Sydney’s leafy upper North Shore. The house is one of the most complete and intact post World War design collection in public ownershipIIWritten 14 July 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Joollz YSydney, Australia84 contributionsMy husband & I were up at the food court in Westfield Hornsby yesterday (Sunday 2nd March 2025) at 2pm & the delightful young 13 yo guitarist by the name of Jason Tran was playing. Sitting just behind Muffin Break we could see that everyone thoroughly enjoyed his music & their lunch experience was definitely enhanced by Jason's music. He played "across the board" with his repertoire & there was literally "something for everyone" judging by the little old lady who took to dancing to Jason's music. Well done, Westfield so keep Jason up there in the food court! I also think other occasions such as Mother's Day, Father's Day etc etc would be ideal times for Jason to showcase his young talent.Written 2 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Alison SSydney, Australia2,469 contributionsWonderful place to meet with friends and have a picnic lunch.
Fabulous in good clear weather.
Plenty of park benches to sit on and plenty of space around them to place other picnic chairs around to share experiences.Written 13 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. While it does contribute to local culture, don't count on it to get you to the train or your local coffee date on time.
All said, I appreciate Hornsby Council putting the time and money into getting this back to a working state after sitting stagnate for so long.Written 17 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There are facilities such as toilets and covered picnic tables and you can check out a number of vantage points that will please the photography buffs.
You can walk from the carpark straight down to the level pathway that leads around the little headland the park is on. Brooklyn baths are on one side and a pleasant little picnic area (which has more facilities) on the other. If you haven't brought your own food there are some little takeaway places in the town itself.
Wheelchair friendly if you stay on the sea level walking path. If I was inspired to go into the baths for a swim I'd probably wear an old pair of joggers - oysters about and who knows if any are on small rocks in the area. Fishing is an option from a couple of small pontoons and you could easily launch kayaks etc here.Written 21 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. As we didn't have a muzzle (super friendly dog), we brought his container. I'd asked if we could leave our container on the ferry as we were returning on the next circuit, however, were told it's safety couldn't be assured. So we left it at the shed on the ferry wharf next to a stack of unlocked bikes. When we returned an hour later to catch the ferry it was GONE!!! The moral of the story, don't bring your container - they provide muzzles on the ferry (wasn't told this earlier) unless you bring your own padlock and chain. Sadly, among this little island of 300 people lurks a thief!Written 3 August 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jennifer CSydney, Australia279 contributionsThere are several pools suitable for every standard of swimmer. There is plenty of seating and plenty of shade so it's great for all ages and fitness levels. A bit hard to park. Another problem, the last twice we went the water slide was out of action which was very disappointing. Hope it is fixed for the start of the school holidays.Written 12 December 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - mrdom8,634 contributionsIf you're not up for a long walk, like all the way from Cowan to Brooklyn, the short track from Cowan station to Jerusalem Bay is great. The only other access to Jerusalem Bay is by boat, so you might get it all to yourself. It's steep but less than 2 hours return. There's some decent food in Cowan.Written 8 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- KylieIsTravellingPerth, Australia4,083 contributionsI discovered Kalkari Discovery Centre through the NSWPARKS app, and stopped in on my way down to Bobbin Head. The centre is run by volunteers, who are helpful and lovely, willing to share information on what to do in the area.
There’s a short-ish walk after you walk through the discovery centre, which is a loop encompassing lookout, pond and through the bush. The path is very well maintained, and the shorter path is accessible to all. The longer path has a few steps. It’s graded as an Easy walk by NSW Parks and I agree, and it doesn’t take long at all.
On my visit today, a ringtail possum nearly came inside the open door to the visitor centre but stopped when it saw and heard us. It ended up racing back into the bush.
There are great views here, staff are lovely, and plenty of birds and cicadas. I missed seeing the goanna, as well as the wallabies, probably due to the time of day I visited (mid morning, I probably should have been there earlier).
It’s free to visit, and they have a donation box as you exit which you can place money in. Toilet facilities are also available.
Summary - I think it’s worth visiting if you’re in the area or on the way to Bobbin Head.Written 3 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
