Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- Claudia DBuenos Aires, Distrito Federal, Argentina1,255 contributionsThis place might be in your wish list. Adorable oval fortified town. Small shops, some interesting places to visit. Specially San Francesco church. So beautiful! Unfortunetly closed for us. Nice to have a walk aroud the citadella. It will take less than one hour if you don’t have many time available, photos and videos included. Imposible to avoid them. Beautiful and well deserved title to become one of the “Borghi piu belli d’Italia”Written 29 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Loreen KPrague, Czech Republic229 contributionsThis is a lovely church. Really like the blue door, its next to the small museum. There was a wedding being prepped when there, looked like a beautiful memory in the making.Written 7 August 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Philip LNew York City, NY234 contributionsI brought 9 artists to Lucignano for a painting workshop - my second time there. The last time was about 7 years ago and it was always my intention to return. 5 of my group stayed in the apartments in Il Cassero, but Massimo arranged for the rest of us to stay either at the nearby Casa Lina or two private apartments in the village. Massimo (Max) was attentive, friendly, and always went above and beyond. He drove all the way to the airport in Rome to take some of my clients in his car. I rented a minivan for the rest.
These apartments are huge - they all have kitchens and bathrooms. Pretty spectacular. Not modern but with great character. All the apartments are on the same level and you do have to walk up a couple of flights to get to them. The private gardens just outside Il Cassero turned out to be a great place to paint, and the private gate is operated by code.Written 12 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. They showed us other frescos and painting by Ben Long on their commuter. What a talented guy.Written 9 April 2013This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Brun066Florence, Italy13,979 contributionsProceeding from the center of Lucignano towards the "Madonna della Querce" sanctuary (where you also meet the town cemetery), the ruins of the Medici Fortress loom over the road.
The original fortress' structure must have been a massive quadrangular bulding, elevated over the surrounding countryside, in which the corners were occupied by four bastions; as it's obvious since the fortress dates back to the mid-16th century, when the fortresses “alla moderna” (modern style), that is, suitable for defending against firearms, are the rule.
The fortress was built starting from 1554, but soon, due to lack of financial and human resources, the shape was changed into a simpler one, the so-called "scissor" form, completed in 1557; and so it still featuring today. On it, clearly visible from all sides, still a cylindrical tower stands.
Recently (2019) a grant from the Tuscany Region was allocated to restore and make all parts of the fortress accessible. It is to be hoped that the works will make another significant monument of Lucignano easily walkable.Written 25 January 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Gardens, views and amazing food and wine. If you fancy the real Bistecca chianina there are fab butchers selling local produce as well as amazing prosciutto salami and sausages and porchetta. There are incredible bars where you can enjoy an aperitivo al fresco and beautiful churches to visit. Don't forget to visit also the wonderful Basilica delle Vertighe right next to the A1 motorway exit.
